Default How to get scuffs and scratches out?

I put this on the Tacoma forum, but will try here as well.

What can you do to get light scratches and scuffs out of your vehicle? I've tried waxing, but they're still there. I just hit a branch this weekend as well (DUMB) and now have a pretty good scuff in the clear coat on the lower portion of the door. Can they be taken out? Does a shop need to be involved? Seems every time I reach into the bed, I get a scratch mark from my clothes. The clear coat seems very soft!

Thanks

Chad

You need some polish, not a wax. Wax will only protect the scuff.

Try some Scratch-X or Mothers Power Polish by hand, then follow up the area with your favorite wax.

Hey Chad,

Waxing wont remove those scratches, you'll need to polish them out. But yes, most of them will come right out, depending on how deep they are. You can take it to a detailer for your best results, unless you have a Porter Cable type buffer at home. You can apply a polish by hand, but the only thing about doing it by hand is that you're arm will be dead by the time you finish the first door.

For the price you would pay a pro to do it, you can go out and buy a PC and pads and polish and do it yourself. Theres really nothing to it and you'll probably have a good time doing it.
