Default How to clean and detail wheels??

What would be the best way to keep mirror finish wheels from getting dull? I have the mb motoring razor wheels and I would like to keep them looking good for as long as I can. Washing, waxing, solutions?

Wax or seal them with some sort of protection. Poorboys wheel sealant and Duragloss #105 would be some great things to apply to the wheels to keep them looking great.

Then just wash with soap/water. No need for wheel cleaners, you will remove the wax on the wheels if you use a wheel cleaner.

What is mirror finish?

If it's polished aluminum you'd be best to stay away from wheel cleaners and just stick with soap and water. Make sure to dry them really good because aluminum tends to get pretty bad water stains. If you have compressed air blow out all the crevices and lugnut holes You need to find some kind of polish to get them looking their best then seal it with some type of wax or sealant

I have those water stains on my rims... I would like to remove them.. Someone to me recommended SOS cleaning scrubs. They said as long as you have chrome wheels, it would not scratch them. I also have some rust that forms on the lug cover. I try and remove that, it is possible, but I cant' remove the old water spots that built up while I was away for 2 years.. Any ideas? I would love to have them back to near new. Thanks.

I would NOT recomend SOS pads. IF you must use something that abrasive, use 0000 steel wool.

My first recommendation would be to try some Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish and a microfiber applicator.

If you must use steel wool, try it in a place where you won't see it to make sure you don't damage your rim.

I tryed the sos pad. It didn't scratch the rim at all. They didn't get off the water spots.. they must be deep in there.. It sucks. They used to be perfect, from about 5 feet you can't tell, but I know, so it does suck. Any ideas would be great. thanks. I am thinking some product to cut them down and at least get rid of them a little bit.

Check my profile pictures for the oxidation, and the good picture from about 5 feet out, maybe less. Also, I put 40lbs of air in the tires.. do you think that is too much.. Of course the recommended max is 35lbs at 2400lbs of weight... Thanks again for the advice and help!

Does your rag come off black with the polish?

You might need to get a machine on those wheels with a more agressive polish...

Tough one...

Yeah, the rag does have some black to it when I am trying to polish them. Those puppies are really tough to polish. I washed them yesterday, and today, I may try to give them a polish, if I wash my whole truck. Yeah, tough one no doubt. Thanks for the replys.
