DetailingGeneral discussion forum for detailing your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Dealer Scratched my FINISH!!!", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I check everything on the truck before I leave the dealer to make sure nothing is jacked up. Same thing at the tire shop. Brand new tires and wheels on an Xb, first time back to rotate them and they scratched them. Before I left I let them know I was not happy. You would think that a tire shop, where you just spent $1500.00, would have a little respect. Its not like I went to Walmart.
If this dealer doesnt take care of you, maybe you should pay a visit to their lot and put a few "swirl" marks of your own on one of their vehicles.

that wouldn't get him anything but trouble.
any paint, black especialy, will get swirl marks. sooner or later you will get scratches and marks on your truck too. this is not to say that you should let it go. but if they got the marks almost out and offered many parts at costs, take advantage of the offer. just make sure the parts are really at cost and not 25% off some artificialy high markup.
Took a look at it this morning and it looks great. There were a couple of areas, such as the inside of door jams, were they missed a little bit of wax. I'm very pleased. The manager called me and asked how I liked it? Great I said. He said he would call me on the parts and he is going to change them out at no cost. That's what I call Customer Service.
Parts: I really wanted Red Rock Leather so I had them change it out at the dealer in my negotiations with my sales man. I completely forgot about the under dash of the steering wheel, glove box and door handles. (I have alredy bought the shifter in R.R.)
So that is what he is going to change out for the inconveniance. Keep ya posted.
Factory installed swirl marks and water spots are just part of the delivery process. Remember whenever you visit a dealer for service you will likely receive a call or a survey shortly thereafter. The survey is extremely important to dealers and they will do nearly anything to get good marks. Keep that in mind when you have a service issue that is not resolved to your liking.

bought my 2000 from the dealer and it looked great. Then they went and "detailed" it for me with out asking and put swirls all in the paint, and left me one hell of a buff burn all the way down the upper front bumper cover($100 piece) which they said they didn't do BS. Best thing, never let the dealership wash or detail.
I havent posted in a long time because I've been so busy with work, but I took my Tundra in for my complimentary oil change, and they scuffed my bumper so bad that it gouged it about 1/8th inch deep. they fixed it the next day with colors on parade or some crap, but it looks fine now.
