Default Tire dressing overspray

The "Tire treatment used in dealership showrooms?" reminded me to share this.

Here's how I keep the overspray off of my wheels:
Buy a sheet of 1/4" thick wood. (Solid aspen I think, 24' on each side, about $5.00 at Lowes.)
Find the center, scribe a radius corresponds to your wheel diameter.
Cut out the resulting circle.
Drill a hole in the center if you haven't already and screw in a drawer knob ($1.00 or so for the wood ones at Lowe's).
Now, whenever you dress your tires, just slap the cover up in front of the wheel & spray away.

You can buy those made from plastic at a few online detail suppliers. However I'm not a big fan of spray tire shine products because they almost always mist onto the paint if there's even a hint of wind. I prefer a tire dressing sponge and a liquid dressing like Zaino Z-16.

All you high rollers...

I used a thick piece of cardboard (refrig box) & cut 2 round pieces out. I glued them together & used an old drawer knob screwed through the center for a handle. The old lady can't get to her socks now, but I don't care...

Yeah, I just used cardboard as well. Plus, I had to make some for several sizes of wheels.

i do not use a spray i use a liquid in a ziplock plastic container with a foam sponge that you can control amount of liquid and keep it off of wheel really easy if ya just keep it squeezed out and do not over spead it! i hate cleaning overspray off wheels and will not use spray just for that reason!

ordered the Michelin 3-1 Tire Wheel Kit, anyone use this product on their Michelins? They say they do not want any harsh chemicals on their sidewalls? also has a brake dust spray for wheels and tires? i will give this a try?

Thats actually good stuff, the brake dust repellant is wonderfull, and the tire shine was supposed to be one of the best at the time. It can be used on other tires as well.

I just ordered a set of LTXAT2's for my 06 also so i have 2 sets now and looking for something to spruce um up a tad but Michelin is particular on what they approve for use on their sidewalls. I ordered online at X-1R cause no one else sells this package. Walmart, Sears, and Target are registered retailers that sell it but for some reason none of them carry it? only online!
Thanks for info Brandon!! I spent 12 years washing cars at Dad's full service ESSO/EXXON and have Detailed a few cars and you are by far one smart youngster on detailing and your product will allways be proof!!

Well I do appreciate it Hogwild, it's always nice to be young and still set an example. I just hope I can keep up the work into my older years.
