Default Removing Wax from Plastic

I got some spray Meguirs wax on the black plastic bed rail covers. It's turned white and the texture of the plastic makes getting it all off a problem.

Suggestions?

An old detailers trick for wax on black plastic is peanut butter, plain, not crunchy. Put a little bit on a paper towel and rub it lightly, it'll come right off with no problem at all.

Autoglym has their "Bumper Care" product that works very well to remove the wax residue and also brings back the original color to the plastic ( once sun fading or weathering has happened ). The stuff is like a goey green slim, but work it in gently, let sit about 10 min ( this stuff does not have to dry ) and then wipe the excess off, then buff with another cloth. This product brings back any rubber/vinyl/plastic surface. The coating lasts a few months and then can be re-treated. Any that gets on surrounding paint can be wiped off with a clean cloth.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

The peanut butter seems to have a following on the Internet. I think I'm going to try the Mothers Back to Black though since I want to avoid having to wash the truck. (I'm in the middle of installing a water softner and don't want to wash the truck again until I get that project done. It was a lot of fun getting rid of the hard water spots from the well water the last time I washed the truck.)

lol, I feel your pain. It looks like we're practically neighbors. I live in a little town where about 80% of us are on well. We have a softener and a CR Spotless to wash with. Before that it was a nightmare to wash the cars.

Give the peanut butter a shot. You dont need to wash it first or after because it only takes a very small amount of peanut butter to do the job.

I came on-line to look up this exact thing and it was the first topic listed here. I tried it, cheaper to try since I had the PB instead of the Back toBlack and it worked pretty good. Just wondering if possibly using just peanut oil would work since my guess it that's what's actually doing the cleaning. I'll try it next time I have some peanut oil. Although a jar ofcheap peanut butter may be cheaper and last longer

I'm gonna try that peanut butter trick, I have two labs that can remove it for me without need for a wash.

I have Duragloss wax remover, but it will take all oils off the plastic along with the wax, wont use it again

if its the oil that actually does the job why not get some organic peanut butter? the oil raises to the top if let alone for a day or so.

the back to black takes some elbow grease but it removed my wax and have my black trim a wet look.

I have to retract my endorsement of the peanut butter. It looked good yesterday but today I was lookingat again and everything is all white again. Guess I'll have to go find some Back to Black and try that unless some has another sugestion to try.

I'm not sure how to get the wax off....but go grab a can of P21 wax next time. No problems at all, you can wax everything without the white residue if you wanted.

For what it's worth, I've used Naphta before. Takes any wax right off; follow up with Armor All or similar.
