Default Video on Debadge

I took a video of my Debadging my Tundra. I used 100# fishing line and a heat gun and some WD-40 to remove excess tape. Heat your badge with sun or heat gun slightly longer than I showed in the video.

wow, thanks for this. That really boosted my confidence on doing this to my truck. It looks easy.

Thanks

Cool Re: Video on Debadge

made it look pretty simple. howe long exactly did you heat the badge area before removal?

any advice on pinstripe removal? I imagine it is pretty similar...

I did my truck about 4 years ago and for the pin stripes they came off very easy after being parked in the noon sun for about a hour, The TRD sticker was the hardest one, and that was due to the amount of glue residue under the sticker.

Will a hair drier work as well?

Thanks I've been wanting to try this for quite some time. Will it leave a thick black sticky foam tape on the truck? I would hate to be able to read the badge in the paint when I'm done. The truck is obviously a dark blue, 2004 60,000mi always waxed. There should be no sign of the words when I'm done.?

Default Re: Video on Debadge

I just did my "V8 5.7" emblems and it was simple. I heated them a bit so they were hot to the touch, but not hot enough to burn me. I only had 6# test, so I was able to double it up and saw behind the emblem about 1/4 of the way. I was able to pry it off from there and it left most of the grey sticky stuff on the truck. I then was able to stretch the gray tape and it released as I stretched it. I had some 3M decal remover to get the remainder off. I think the wax would have done just as well. Alcohol would work as well. I rewaxed it and you cannot tell anything was there. That emblem is way too big for that fender. Much better without it.

hair dryer works perfect. Heat it up and it pulls right off, most of the time in one long piece. Works great for those annoying dealer logos they put on too.
