DetailingGeneral discussion forum for detailing your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tundra has speckles on it from"rail dust"???", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Haven't tried that yet. The optimum compound/polish combo works so well, I haven't tried any thing else in some time. How does that combo look? (if you have tried it)
I havent used Optimum yet, I'm an Einszettes man myself. But I use Klasse AIO (pre-ban) as a base for most every application. It really helps clean the oils from the polishes and gives the paint a good foundation for a synthetic.
This is what the Klasse twins topped with PUPP looks like that I mentioned earlier. A very wet look. Polishes were Einszettes PP, MP then AIO, SG and a week later PUPP.
I can see you standing in a dark alley with a long jacket... "$250, get your Klasse right here, right now"
Haha, between you and Brandon, I might be able to make a couple bucks with this bottle. Best part is I have a huge backup bottle. I bought my dad a giant bottle of the pre-ban AIO for his birthday a couple years ago, I think he's used it maybe 3 times. Good thing he has no idea what he's holding on to.
Be careful tomorow. Dealership detailers can often be hacks or 16yr olds that know little to nothing about car care.
Just be sure it's perfect when it's done, look for marring, scratches, extra swirl marks from washing with dirty cloths/brushes/mitts.
Now i'm scared - I sure wish I was going to be there when they did it. I'm going to give him strict instructions NOT TO LEAVE THE TRUCK ALONE!! LOL Maybe he should just sit in the darn truck and watch them the whole time...
I have always been one of these people who think dealer knows best (what was i smoking?) and will take care of you - well you guys sure opened my eyes. They feel like the enemy now.

I'm sure you'll be fine, claying is a simple thing to do and if they have a detail shop, they should know how to do it. When you pick it up, check for scuff marks on the paint incase they didnt lube the clay well enough, if they're there, they'll come out very easily. Have them pull it in the bay under the halogen lights. The lights will show every imperfection in the paint.
For future details, avoid the dealers at all costs. Invest in some good microfiber towels and good wash habits, and you'll be all set.
Well he took it to the dealer and the salesman himself started doing the work. I guess he thought it wouldn't be nothing to do it. My husband started pointing out all of it and the salesman then realized it was ALL over it. So he said they needed to keep it overnight and it'd take about a half day to do it all (duh) So hopefully when he picks it up tomorrow it'll be like new again.

So how did it go? Did they get the spots out for you?

He picked it up yesterday and inspected it very carefully and found a couple specks (hey two too many!) and they got those off, gave him the clay, new towel and some window cleaning stuff they used woohoo lol. The salesman said it took 4 guys all morning to do it - they had never seen that much rail dust on a vehicle. Duh...that's what we told them it was ALL over it. Anyways, I inspected it first thing this morning and it's back to being GORGEOUS and blemish free 'cept some dam* bird shat all over my door today...freak'n bird! lol. So, I guess props to the dealer, they came thru okay for us. Had I been there I would have gotten a free oil change out of them or something but u know husbands....
