This is a discussion thread titled "Suggested wax for extreme AZ heat", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I live in Mesa AZ and we just purchased a new home that my 07 Salsa Red Tundra will not fit into the garage. It will have to sit out in the extreme AZ summer heat. I need to get a really good wax product that will help protect the paint in the 120 degree extreme sun. Any suggestion?
I don't think any product can stand up to the intense sun and heat you have down there for any length of time. I used to live there and used a car cover for my car when it was parked at work. The Tundra is so huge, that might be a problem though. I remember coming out after work, and when you turn on the key, the temp gauge would already go up before you even started the engine. I do miss your winters.
TraceyG,
I live in Surprise and have the same problem!!! Big TRUCK small garage. After reading a bunch of detailing blogs I came across We Are Car Care -- Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detailing Supplies, Car Buffers & Car Accessories Store. I got the Fourm Favorite box kit, and a Porter Cable XL polisher kit. Initial lay out is steep, but well worthit IMO. And a side note the kit is recomended for red & black autos. The shine when you are done is amazing! I got my truck in June of 07 and applied three months after, and it still looks good and still beads. I am getting ready to do again next weekend just to get ready for our cool summer. Any questions PM me.

I wouldn't recommend a carnuba, but I would recommend a sealant, such as Chemical Guys Jetseal 109. Real nice product, easy on, easy off, real nice look.

yes, the tundra is huge but the hardest part of the cover is getting it back in that tiny storage bag it comes with haha
I'd try the DuraGloss Line of products. Reasonable price, easy to apply, durable as hell, and outstanding shine.
CarQuest auto parts carries the line here in Fl.

The heat and blazing sun is going to dry and fade the interior, the rubber window seals, etc..so there really is no substitute for a garage or car cover. A Tyvek car cover is amazingly effective at keeping the sheet metal of the truck and interior cool on a hot day. Walmart sells them for $40, but not in the maximum size that would be needed to fit over a Tundra. So you might Google "Tyvek car cover" to see what you can come up with. Dupont Tyvek is the same "home wrap" insulating covering you see being stapled to walls of new homes.
I have used a product called LIQUID GLASS for around 55 years---I am using it on my 08 Red Tundra---I don't think it can be beat by any other product---Cost is $20---Hard to find but worth the hunt !
