Default Need Advice on Care for Re-Sprayed Hood

Due to a vandalism spree in my neighborhood last night, I'm having the hood on my Super White '08 Tundra resprayed. It had approx 50 deep gouges that went into the metal. No dents or dings...just deep gouges. According to the police, a mentally disturbed woman heard voices that told her to attack cars with a pair of golf shoes and she'll be in the "Hospital for Special People" for quite a while.

My body shop is sanding/re-spraying the hood tomorrow. Should I do anything special when I get the truck home or just wash/polish/seal/wax as normal?

I believe if your shop is good will tell you not to wash or wax it for 30-45 days to let the new paint cure fully, unless there is some new paint technologies out there that are shorter or they bake the paint on. But they should know the proper 'new' paint care when you get it home.

When you get the paint back, make sure you are satisfied with the finish. Often body shops will leave holograming or swirl marks that make the paint look terrible. Look at it in the sun and make sure it's perfect.

The body shop will tell you not to wax it for 60 days. This is true to some extent. They are assuming you are using something with silicone in it that will prevent the outgassing and curing of the paint. I waited a week on my resprayed truck and used Optimum Car Wax (no silicones) or Zaino Z-5PRO on it, no problems at all.
