Default Duragloss Advice

As usual, I have procrastinated to the point where I now have to make a compromise and need some advice.

I washed, clayed and waxed my '03 (Dark grey - forget the fancy name) a couple of weeks ago and was pretty pleased with the result. I used gold class wash, clay magic clay and Turtle Wax Ice paste as the wax. While the results were good, I would like to see if I can get a better result by substituting Duragloss 105 for the ice. My test subject was going to be our '07 Sienna (white pearl).

Here's where things get tricky. I can't find the 105 anywhere. The local CarQuest has many other DG products (including 101 and AquaWax, the wash, etc) but no 105. I can order the 105 online, but obviously could not have it for use this weekend, when I happen to have some free time to use it. After this weekend, it might be a while before I have a good sized chunk of free time to devote to the vehicles.

So here's my dilemma: Do I hold out for the 105, or is one of the DG products available (like perhaps the 101) close enough to the 105 that I should just buy it and go for it this weekend? Or am I better off to wait and order some 105 online?

Also, I skipped the polish step when I did my Tundra because the paint seemed to be in such great condition after claying. Was this a mistake? Would it make a huge difference in the result? I'm just trying to quantify things here to decide how much time to spend. For instance, if polishing would improve my result by say 10% but increase the time spent by 50%, I would probably choose to do something else with my time.

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If your paint does not have imperfections or deep grime, you may not need a polish step. Although, I generally like to do one to make sure.

A good combo would be #101 for a paint cleaner, then some #111 or just put some plain ol #951 AW over it until you can get some #105. AW will protect by itself for a good month or so.

Thanks Brandon. Since nobody had replied yesterday, I just went ahead with the TW Ice wax on the Sienna. Again, I am pleased with the result - especially given how easy this stuff is to use. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that is didn't work so well on the windows. I buffed and buffed with fresh MF towels and just can't seem to get it completely removed. It's not really that noticeable, but you can see it from the right angle - especially on the tinted windows. I did pick up some Aqua Wax the other day and used it on the windows of the Tundra with MUCH better results.

I also picked up some of the Duragloss Nu-Glass to try on some stubborn water spots - WOW! This stuff worked wonders where everything else had failed. I'll be posting details shortly in the thread I'd started looking for help on this a week or so ago.
