You can just get some APC to dissolve the bugs, and a bug sponge to safely remove them.

Dryer sheets work great too. Wet the area really well and the dryer sheets take them right off.

I use household "sudzy" (contains added soap) ammonia diluted with water. Spray on the grill / front end and keep spraying so it remains wet for a few minutes, then wand wash gets them off easily. In the absence of ammonia, Windex will work.

I don't know what they are called, but the "scrubber" you use with body wash in the shower works great. Everytime I replace the one in my shower, the old one becomes my new bug scrubber. Doesn't even think about scratching paint and you can use it with plain car wash. No special chemicals necessary

my dad's harley windshield is plastic and sensitive to scratching, so he puts a damp towel over it to soften 'em up so they come right off.

Once you get them removed keep a good coat of sealer wax on your ride they will come off a lot easier next time.

bug sponge and good soap. i like gold class carwash. agreed, they come off much more easily if you can pre soak em a little. i live near a large river and fight them all summer long. try to find what the Canucks are using...they've got some serious bugs up there.
