Default what order?

quick question about claying and cleaning. i have been slacking all winter and my truck's finish needs some help. which do i do first? i'm planning on usuing Meguire's paint cleaner, and clay bar...but i'm not sure which should be first. i will be hand applying both the cleaner and wax.

also: would there be any benefit to removing wax with a buffer, other than speed? i'm usualy "hand only" but am going to put at least two coats of wax on and am anticipating a very sore arm. thoughts? help appreciated.

I always found a random orbital buffer does a better job of leaving a more uniform finish when removing wax, as opposed to by hand.

I only buy the bulk pack terry cloth ones and never had problems. I think as long as you make sure they stay clean (i.e. change them fairly often) you should not have problems scratching the paint.

Depending on the materials yu are using, foam pads give better results for applying. There are different grades of foam bonnets for different materials...comp., polish or wax.

Clay first, cleaner, then wax.

Also, dont use a buffer that uses bonnets, that screws up and swirls up more paint jobs than i've ever seen. Just do it by hand, the quality in those bonnets are kinda like a chinese car

Ditto... On top of that, they fill up with the wax residue so fast that you end up spending more time changing bonnets than you would just removing the wax with a nice fluffy Microfiber towel.
