DetailingGeneral discussion forum for detailing your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Swirl mark remover. Opinions needed.", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have only have my truck a few days and I already noticed that the dealer with their excellent wash job has included two areas with swirl/clear coat scratches in my white paint free of charge. I swear, can't dealers educate their people on how to properly wash a vehicle without damaging it. Idiots!
Anyways, I have used Zaino Bros. on my G35 and loved it; a lot of work but it is a great product. Is there a more readily available product that can be used to remove swirl marks/clear coat scratches? I'm looking for something I can pick up at the local auto parts store.
Your help is appreciated. Thanks

To really fix the swirls, you need a machine. Mothers Power Polish and Megs Scratch-X will work, but you will have to rub your darn arm off to get "ALL" the swirls out. You'd be better off investing $200 or so in a machine/pads/polishes/and a good sealant. That way you can take care of future problems, and your current ones....it more than pays for itself in saved paint frustration, and buying the wrong stuff. Buy it right the first time, dont have to buy it again...

Thanks for the input. I actually don't have too many swirl marks. The area of concern looks like something was on the paint and someone tried to use a little too much elbow grease and scrubbed the paint using a dirty rag while they were washing it. Pisses me off.
Are there any machines that you recommend? I've always done everything by hand so machines/pads/polishes are all new to me.
Thanks

Along with your polishes, a bottle of Klasse AIO is a good way to start a collection. After polishing I like to use Klasse AIO as a base coat and to remove any oils left behind, then apply a layer or two of Zaino Z-2. It'd be a nice compliment to the Zaino youre already using. That combo looks great on white.
