This is a discussion thread titled "Haze on glass?", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
My 2008 seems to have a slight haze on all of the windows. It was sitting on the dealer's lot for a couple of months and exposed to the elements.
I have done a couple of thorough washes and used a variety of glass cleaners which did not seem to make a difference.
It appears to be universal on all glass. My friends and family have only noted it after I've pointed it out. I usually see it early or late in the day when the sun is shining through the side glass. I'm picky I guess.
I have not yet attempted a glass polish but I have some Griot's product to try.
Anyone else with this issue?
Anyone know if there is any sort of coating on the exterior of the glass before I attempt to polish?

I couldnt tell by the information you gave but be sure to clean the inside of the windows. That is the only haze I have ever gotten. Im sure you have already done that but just in case. I dont believe there is an exterior coating, only a tinting with uv blockers within the glass. Again Im no glass expert but I have polished mine with a machine polisher using a Mequires and 3M scratch remover compound. I did it to remove etching from love bugs and tree sap. After that I wax and buff the windsheild, thats right you heard me, gives it that show shine.
Good luck, I hope you fix it.

yes ive had it and all i did was clean the inside of the glass. it helps if you have a good street light to park under then you can see it better. i recommend invisible glass cleaner its in a can sprays like foam and work GREAT! try and do it when it isnt hot out and the glass is cool this also helps direct sun bakes the glass cleaner on the window before you can wipe it off
Mix up some 5% vinegar and 95% water. Add just a couple of drops of liquid soap. Wash the glass with a soft sponge and dry with a paper towel. That mixture will remove haze that glass cleaners won't.

After all the cleaning of the window..... keep a clean micro-fiber towel in the car.... if it hazes up again...... pull over and remove the haze with the towel..... it shouldn't come back for a long time

yes, it could be the product youre using on your dash thats causing the haze to form. Try a mild soapy wipe down of the dash to remove any products.
When you clean your windows, wipe side to side on the interior and up and down on the exterior, that way you'll know right away if your streaks are on the inside or the outside.
I only use a damp microfiber clothe to wipe my dash. I have a haze on the inside of windows, since it was new. It cleans, but comes back. I had one other vehicle that did it for a while.

I must try that. Windex sure doesn't clean the haze off the glass and sometimes it's hard to see when driving into the sun. My 98 dodge never had the hazing issue but most new vehicles seem to get it. Perhaps it is the UV coating?

Also, If you are using glass cleaners such as Windex, etc. Don't clean your windows out in the sun. I have had this cause me streaking as well. Do it in the shade, or in the garage.
If it keeps coming back, it is either the dash product you are using or the dash materials off-gassing since production. That is what gives your truck that new car smell.....
The haze is probably from the vinyl dash out gassing. Fairly normal in new vehicles. Some folks call it that "new car smell". Probably does the same thing to your lungs.

Yep, the UV coating a lot of the problem. My glasses have a UV coating and regular glass cleaner won't work on them. If the 5% mix does not do it go a touch stronger, but not much soap.

Don't use paper towels to clean your glass. use a microfiber towel. Paper towels have a bleach and detergent in them which will leave the hazy residue.
