I just wanted to pass on to all of you fellow detailing enthusiasts my recent experience with autogeek. I spent a few weeks searching the web for the best price on the Porter Cable 7424 polisher kits. Nobody could touch the price for what autogeek was offering, plus I found a coupon for free shipping on orders over $75.
Getting the best price was great but where they really impressed me was after the order was placed. I started reading their forum and found that I needed a couple other pads to really get the results I wanted. I had placed the order on Saturday and being on the west coast the techs had already left before I realized I needed to change my order. Monday morning I tried to contact them to see if I could add the two pads to my order so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. I used the online chat located on their website and Matt was the tech that I dealt with. I informed him of MY mistake and he found that the order had already been placed and setup with UPS. What he said next blew me away!!! Even though this problem was completely my lack of knowledge he said he would wave the shipping for the pads and get them sent out right now. I received them the day after my first order arrived. I was happier than a pig in you know what!!
This day and age, finding a company that has that type of customer service is a rare thing. autogeek.net has gained my loyal business for all my detailing supply needs. Thanks again Matt if you read this.

Do you mean the HD upgrade? If so, it is purely $$$. A windows washers wage during these times isn't what it was. The only reason I was able to make the purchase was a friends father paid me to fully detail a used pickup (ford) that he just bought. I used that extra change to get the PC for my own detail desires.

Yes I didn't know the model number when I replied. I now know that it is a $30 up cost for a longer chord and 2 year warrantee. Details below
Upgrade this kit to the Porter Cable 7424 HD Plus!
The HD Plus has a heavy duty 25 ft, 16 gauge power cord to give you maximum maneuverability and performance. This cord is 2 ½ times the length of the standard cord and it’s wired into the polisher. This is not an extension cord – it's a unit upgrade! The Porter Cable 7424 HD Plus includes a 2 year warranty.
Select the Porter Cable 7424 HD Plus option in the drop down menu.

That's good to know. I was looking at that because I have pretty bad spotting on my side windows. It's been like that since I bought the truck new. I was actually thinking of using the PC 7424 on them with some polish. I did that on my shower doors and they look brand new but it did take a number of passes to do it. Maybe the glass scrub would cut the time down. Will have to try.

I was looking at that, but the way my garage outlets are laid out the longer cord isn't needed, and I have other PC products that have lasted for years. The way the economy is right now, $30 could be used other places. If others have some extra cash laying around the upgrade would be a good deal.

Water spots on glass can easily be removed with #0000 steel wool. Use a soap mixture as a lube and they should come right out.
That's what I thought too. Being a window washer, #0000 is my weapon of choice when dealing with water spots but it didn't even phase the spots on my glass. I thought that maybe they were etched into the glass but it feels smooth. I'm wondering if the rpm's of the PC might give me the advantage I need to resolve this source of frustration.

A lot of times that is glass "etching" where you have removed the surface portion of the etch and calcium, but left the imprint of where the minerals made the glass spot in the first place.
You will either need a really aggressive polish (or glass scrub), or a harsh acid to remove the spots. Basically, if #0000 wont take care of it, then you have to go that direction.
