I recently waxed my truck with some old (maybe 2-3 years) meguiars cleaner wax that I had laying around.
After spending about 4 hours on it I ended up with a great looking truck but a greasy residue all over it.
I bought some meguiars gold class liquid wax and went over the whole truck again about 2 hours this time.
It looks alot better but in certain light I can still see some greasy spots that seem to be almost impossible to remove. I probably used 20 terry cloth rags trying to get these greasy looking spots off.
Any ideas? I have never had this happen before I also did my wifes car and had no problems.
That is possible, cooler weather affects curing times of waxes and flashing of polishes, but it sounds like the problem stemmed from the cleaner wax. Give it a wash, the film should come off. Then re-wax it with just the Gold Class.
Oh, yeah.... I didnt catch that. I second that idea... ditch the terry cloth and switch to microfibers. They are so much better and efficient in removing waxes and polishes.
I washed the truck today I am sure the neighbors peeking out the windows think I am nuts washing a perfectly clean truck.
All greasy hazing is gone! Thanks guys.
I dont know anything about the microfiber cloths whats the deal? Its hard keeping up with all this new stuff. I remember when nu-finish in the orange bottle was the business lol............I still have a half bottle from about 10 years ago in the shed I guess I should throw it out.
Microfiber towels stormed onto the scene a while back and they've made a huge impact on the detailing world. Pick up a good set of quality towels and you'll never look back.
MF towels come in all different shapes and weaves. There are specific towels for glass, detail sprays, waxes and interior. There are cheap "made in China" towels and higher quality "Korean" made towels. Most of the cheap "China" towels can be found in Target or Sams, but the better Korean towels are usually found online. The Korean towels are less prone to shedding and are more durable, but the Chinese towels work fine for most people. I keep a good stash of China towels, but they only see action on door jambs, wheels and engine bays.
These are some of the best final buffing towels I've used.... DP Monster Fluffy
