Default Fender flare gaskets: removing grime.

I am not a detail nut, its a challenge just keeping cars clean around here. One thing that has always bugged me is the rubber gasket between the fender flare and the fenders on Sequoias. They seem to absorb grime, and do not come off with car soap, simple green, or Bleche white tire cleaner without a lot of rubbing, which of course you dont want to do.

On a whim, I used biodegradable orange cleaner. It looks like Goof off, but it is not. Put some in a spray bottle, let sit for 2 minutes, wipe with a Chamois, Hose down like crazy in case it would keep eating gaskets. I then washed & waxed as normal.

My gaskets went from Dark gray/brown/black to the nice light gray they were originally.

Thanks for the tip.

FWIW, get rid of that Bleach White on anything but tires. It's a HEAVY acid that I dont recommend anyone use unless it's an extreme situation.

Is Beach White OK for rims? I like the way it removes brake dust, and I hose it off with cold water when done. I hate when rims go bad.

Yeah, bleachwhite is bad on anything but tires. Its concrete cleaner acid in a "tire" cleaner bottle.

Bleach white and other whitewall cleaners that contain acid will make your wheels looks chalky. Don't get bleach white in your eyes because it burns. Experienced it myself. Not fun.
