I just got some Xd Series Hoss.
First, I looked at the Detailing How to by Brandon1 before asking but I'm not 100% whether my wheels are clear coated or what. I do use the search button if anybody asks but couldn't find anything that suits my needs.
Pretty much I want a good recommendation for a good product I can get locally that will protect my wheels, keep them clean, and reduce the visibility of brake dust(if possible). I do have simple green, if anybody recommends that.
Second, I want a good Tire Shine/Dressing to keep the tires looking good and shiny to go along with the wheels.
Also if you have any tips on cleaning them. In the past my wheels/tires weren't that special so I just used the regular car soap bottle for cleaning them.
In the past, I've found Meguiars products to be good but would like to get some recommendations. Thanks in advanced.
A good over the counter wheel cleaner is Eagle One A to Z. It can be found at Auto Zone or Discount Auto. Its safe on painted or cleared wheels and does a great job on the tires. There is nothing wrong with good old soap and water too.
For dressings I like 303 Protectant and Zaino Z-16. Both are silicone free and wont attract dirt and dust. Z-16 is mail order only, but 303 can be found at any boating supply store like West Marine or Boater's World. 303 is a great dressing, it leaves a nice satin finish, wont sling and last quite a while.
As far as to tell whether your wheels are CC'd or not, just take a small cloth and some polish, rub the surface lightly and if it turns up black, they arent, if they dont, then they are.
If they arent clear coated, then you need to be careful what you use on them. Polish them up one good time, and soap and water until the next polish session. Otherwise, A2Z and 303 will work fine

Yeah, you'll be fine. But dilute it if you'll feel safer.
The quick wax is fine on wheels, because of the heat generated on wheels it's not going to do much in the way of protection, but it'll give it some extra pop.
The Eagle 1 A-Z is good, but I've been using Professional's Favorite "No More Dust" cleaner with great results, and it's a couple dollars cheaper for a bigger bottle. Also, I stumbled on this cleaner called "Touch Of Purple" at a home-show of all places. Check out www.purplecleaner.com I spray it on after the wheels are clean and dry and then just wipe the whole wheel down and I've noticed much better resistance to brake dust. Also, when I do wash the truck, the brake dust comes off much easier. Not cheap, but a little bit goes a long way.

I was actually at Advanced Autoparts and saw that "No More Dust" and "Purple Cleaner". I ended up getting Eagle 1 A-Z and Eagle1 Tire Shine Gel.
But today was my first day to wash my truck since I got the new tires/wheels. After cleaning them, and spraying them and everything I still saw like a layer of dust or something of the sort that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get out. I don't know if thats brake dust or what?
Other than that, the Eagle1 Tire Shine Gel worked reallly good.
Also I used some Mothers Chrome Polish for the wheels and the chrome parts on my truck. Ran out of time today, so as soon as I get home from work tomorrow I'm gonna try to wax it.
That purple cleaner at the auto parts store is something different. For shining the tires, I really like the Mother's tire shine--not wet shiny, just shiny black and lasts through some serious rain--doesn't sling off onto the paint either.
yeah I was looking for Mothers Tire Shine but I'd rather buy stuff at a local auto parts store than online. But I have realized the real good products are online, while most of the stuff at the store is either black magic, turtle wax, or the store brand.
I haven't tried the Turtle Wax Ice tire shine, just because they put it in a bottle with this crappy looking brush attachment on top, but if the product works as well as the polish, it might be worth it to buy the bottle and transfer the product to a spray bottle without the brush.
Alright well after the wash today I've already ran out of Eagle One A2Z tire/wheel cleaner. It was really good but does anybody have anything that will last longer. I think I've only used it for 2-3 washes...

That's about all I was getting out of the Eagle One myself. That's why I recommended the Professional's Favorite "No More Dust" because I get comparable results with it and it's in a bigger bottle for about $1.50 cheaper.
