Microfiber???...help!

Okay guys..I am totally stressing...have a brand new car...in white...that I washed using the Vroom microfiber mit...got it at Target.....then I waxed the car using a terry cloth applicator and buffed it using a diaper cloth...however...at one point I did use the microfiber Vroom waxing...or maybe polishing mit to apply some wax.....is this brand total garbage?..I thought it was of decent quality..I just now did a CD scratch test..and sure enough it scratched

Have I scratched my clearcoat?..I am absolutely sick over this...and I can't check because the car is at my brother's house..where I store it..any advice?

You may be fine. The best thing you have going for you is it's a white car. Be glad it's not black. Park it in the sun and look for swirls. They're hard to find on lighter colored cars. You might want to invest in some quality m/f towels from autogeek for future waxing. I don't know anything about the brand you purchased and maybe some of the really good detailers can chime in. I'm thinking you'll be just fine!

You should be fine. Vroom is actually what I used to use on customers cars back in the day, and never had a complaint.

But yeah, eventually, pick up some towels from autogeek and see how they compare.

If they are light surface scratches then you have nothing to worry about, they will polish out very easily.

Not all MF towels are created equal. There is a big difference in big box brands of MF towels as compared to "boutique" high quality towels. The cheaper "made in China" towels can be found just about anywhere now..... Target, Sams, Costco and any auto parts store. The high quality "made in Korea" towels are the slightly more expensive towels but are much more of a "boutique" towel. They wont lint, scratch, smear or streak. Be sure to remove any tags or labels from them before use. Also, when washing, if youre washing microfiber towels do not throw anything else in there.... wash only your microfibers. Wash in cold water with a LIQUID detergent that is free from perfumes, dyes, bleach or fabric softeners. I use the detergent for people with allergies. Tumble dry on the lowest heat setting and NEVER use a fabric softener sheet.

I find it hard to believe you scratched the CD with a microfiber but I'm not questioning it.

Just be sure that the thread that they use to wrap the edge of the towel is soft and won't scratch.

Always fold the towel so that you have several layers between your fingers and the paint and you'll decrease the pressure (and scratching).

Most microfibers these days are pretty decent so just keep to a brand name and not some cheap import. Not that the imports aren't the exact same thing, just make sure you can identify quality.

Apply the wax and polish with a foam applicator although a 100% cotton applicator is fine too. But it eats up more polish and wax.

As someone said, white covers almost all sins. (And it looks clean even when dirty....)
