Default Touch-up Paint

This is a little out of the realm of detailing, but it does have to do with keeping the truck looking good... Got some touch-up paint for the rock chips on the front end of my truck. Other than just dabbing it on with the brush in thin layers until chips are filled, do you guys have any tips/tricks for making this really look good? What should I use to prep the surface before application? Also, once the touch-up paint is all applied and cured, how should I go about sealing it to help protect it, but without "cutting" into it and undoing the touch-ups?

A small "how-to" on chip repair/wetsanding + spring cleaning (black G35) (56k = owie) - Autopia.org

That guy did an EXCELLENT write up on how to repair chips. A little more then just filling in the hole, but the results speak for themselves. Even if you didnt want to wetsand, the method he uses for prepping and filling the spot, is still good to follow.

Just got back from vacation and saw your reply. THANK YOU!! Very informative. A little scary--never put sand paper to my vehicles before--but I'll give it a shot.
