Default Showroom Shined- 100,000 mile Toyota Tundra Detail

Whew, I cant believe it's been almost (August) 6 years since I have had my truck. I got the truck when I was 16, and have tried my best over the past 6 years to keep it looking "Showroom" new. Of course, 100,000 miles and 6 years of driving to high-school, college, beach, mountains, etc takes a toll on anything and my truck is proof that with a little attention now and then, you can fight the signs of aging.

It had been over a year since my last detail on the truck. Sure I have put on the odd coat of wax/sealant, and clayed once and hit it with 151 once or twice, but the paint was in pretty bad shape considering who the truck is owned by. Swirls, water spotting, contamination, hazing, scratches, it was all there. The undercarriage had not been touched in over a year and a half, the carpet was getting filthy and the wheels were in sad sad shape. Who knew I would let the truck get this bad, but I guess that is what NCSU does to a person, screws up everything. This weekend was time to change all that.

My truck has had many looks over the years, with this look being purely out of necessity. I was tired of small tires, or overly huge tires, both rode bad and were expensive. The bed rails and step bars were also removed due to excessive wear, and now the truck is much easier to clean, plus the UWS Toolbox helps me keep some of my detailing materials dry.

On to the detail

Interior:

Carpet - AutoMagic Carpet Cleaner, extracted with Shop Vac
Plastic/Vinyl - AutoMagic Special Cleaner 20:1 dressed with 303.
Glass- Majestic Solutions Glass
Jambs - UQW

Exterior

Undercarriage - Super Green in foam cannon, dwell for 10 min, scrub with various brushes, dressed with Majestic Solutions Poly Pro

Wash - Foamed with Gloss-It shampoo, dwell for 5 min, wash with Megs Mitt
Dry - CG WW
Clay - Mothers Clay
Compound - Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, PFW, 1500rpms
Polish - Wolfgang Finish Glaze White 5.5" pad, speed 6
AIO- KAIO by hand on everything
Seal- Blackfire paint sealant X2 (topping with Supernatural in a few weeks)
Glass - Aquapel
Trim - CG Trim Dressing
Wheels - #105-PO106FF-Poorboys Wheel Sealant X3

"Before" lol

After

The blue is the skys reflection

All in All, about 20 hours was spent on the truck, and while not perfect, I can safely guess there is no other Tundra that is still this shiny after 100k.

Thanks for looking

Wow.

Your undercarriage looks better than the exterior of most trucks on the road.

Quick question - if you are planning on compounding, do you need to hit it with the clay as well?

Looks amazing, I would never guess it had 100k miles.

By the way...... that would'nt happen to be a Zaino sticker on the rear window in the second picture, would it ?? Maybe we can Photoshop that out of there for ya.

Truck looks great buddy, perfect work.

Okay, so I'm not the professional detailer, but here are some pictures of my 2006 DC after this weekend. Invested about 8 hours total in it this time. Hand wash and dry, clay bar nose to tail, 1 coat of Meguiars Ultimate Polishing Compound applied nose to tail with PC on level 6, 2 coats of Nu Finish Sealant/Polish applied nose to tail with PC on level 3, 1 coat of Turtle Wax Ice applied nose to tail with PC on level 4 with soft black pad to give the wet look shine and remove all powdery residue from the polishing products. I'm at 65,000+ daily driven miles so I'm pretty proud of the way the truck still looks!! Of course it rained today, but it beaded water like a SOB!! The 3rd picture is actually a reflection of part of my driveway from the side of the truck. I hope the attachments work...

By the way, Brandon, your truck looks AMAZING!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Brandon is the man!! What about my hard work?? Just kidding, LOL. I don't know how Brandon has the patience to go that all out!! I actually printed a picture of that undercarriage and I'm going to get under mine one of these days and see if I can make it look like that--just to see if I can...
