    Default Overspray on weatherstripping

Hope this is the correct place to post this for the best answer...
Just got my Tundra fixed for hail damage and I noticed a little bit of paint overspray on the weatherstripping. They aren't big areas, one is maybe a couple inches the other is maybe a foot and that's it. Does anyone know what I can use to remove the paint? It's fairly fresh, I just picked it up from the body shop yesterday.

I'd take it back and make them take care of it, but they're a 40-45 minute drive away and they're operating hours happen to be exactly the same as my work hours. So in order to take it down there, I have to take time off work and if I have to leave it, I have to get someone else to go too so I can get a ride back... then I need to hitch a ride to go back down there. So if there's something out there I can use and spend an hour or so to get rid of it, it'd be well worth it. Other than that, as far as I can tell, it looks like they did a great job on it.

    Thanks!

Tape off the metal areas around the stripping, use some laquer thinner to remove. May need a Mr Clean and thinner. Should take it right off.

Wow, that was quick, thanks! I'll give it a try as soon as I can. Do I need to worry about the thinner damaging or discoloring the weather stripping? And, should I go to an auto store to get auto paint specific thinner?

As Brandon said.... that should do the trick!!

Also, after you have removed it, I would recommend following that up with a cleaner (any all purpose will do) and a protectant. I recommend aerospace 303, but any type of rubber/vinyl protect it will work. GL and let us know how it comes out.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot as soon as I can. I don't think I'm going to get to it tonight, but I may be able to give it a shot tomorrow. I'll post back to let ya know how it comes out.

Here's a little update on this... didn't want you guys who helped to think I forgot to post the results. I haven't gotten to try it out yet and it turns out that I'm going to have to go back to the shop, so I'm probably going to make them do it. I'm not sure exactly what they did wrong, but the paint job looks great to me except there are a couple spots where you can tell there were chips in the factory paint (like from rocks) and there is a dark spot from the metal underneath showing through. The truck is white and I suspect that if it was a darker color (like maybe blue or black) it wouldn't be noticeable, but as it is, it is noticeable.

i'd be concerned with the quality anyway if they got overspray on the weatherstripping. any good competent shop removes all the trim etc before doing it....unless its a high volume outfit that just tapes and sprays.... hoping thats not the case but if they didnt even take time to use heavy primer and fix the existing rock chips before putting a coat of paint on, then its gonan be an issue i fear. also, if those are on the hood, i feel for ya. if it had hail damage that was bad enough not to use paintless dent repair then the panels should have been replaced and not bondo'd in and reshot......

It's a local Toyota dealer's body shop. I'm not too worried about it, both they and my insurance company guarantee the work for life. Most of the dents were fixed with the paintless dent repair. The one on the hood that cracked the paint was no bigger than the other dents, just happened to crack the paint for reasons unknown to me. The other ones that couldn't be done with the paintless repair were due to their location.
I'll make 'em fix it right if I have to go back 10 times. The paint job itself looks good to me, other than that one chip.
