After about a year of truck envy, my buddy finally decided to sell his old Ford and join the Tundra family. After weeks of searching he found the exact truck he wanted. He picked it up last thursday and today we gave it the full detail. The lucky recipient of todays detail is an 08 DC SR5 in Pyrite Mica. Truck had a few light scratches on the rear quarters but nothing too bad.
This is what it looked like this morning upon arrival.
Todays process was pretty straight forward:
Wash/clay
blow dry and waffle weave wipe down
Zaino Z-16 on tires and Stoners Trim Shine in wheel wells.
Polish:
1. Einszettes Paint Polish (green can) with an orange pad and PC on 5
2. Einszettes Paint Polish mixed 50/50 with Einszettes UPP (yellow can) with a yellow pad and PC on 5 for a few stubborn scratches.
3. Klasse AIO with a white pad and PC on 4 to clean up the oils left from the polishes.
4. FK1 #425 wipe down
5. FK1 1000p x2
I was really torn between the FK1 and a 50/50 mix of Zaino Z2/Z5 for my final sealant. We decided to let a coin toss make our decision and the FK1 1000p won. I'm glad that the FK1 won the toss, we ended up loving the depth.
Awesome job! I don' know if it's the light difference
between when you took the before and after
pics, but it looks like a totally different truck.

Awesome job! I love how "wet" the FK1000 looks. I bet your buddy is loving his new truck even more now.

Thanks John, The first pics were at about 9am, the finished pics were around 4:30. The sun was still going strong at 4:30, but the truck really did change to a deeper color of Pyrite. I've always been a fan of Pyrite, but now more than ever after this detail. The color just looks sticky to the touch now.
Looks fantastic sir! Ranney was telling me about 1000p and how the looks are awesome, but you have to "earn" that look. I've never tried it before but is it that hard to remove?
Very good job overall though! One day I can get to that level. Though i'm still stuck on collecting nubas lately hehe.

1000p is really easy to work with, the flash time is about 10 minutes, depending on the season. You'd fall into the 10 minute time line like myself. It buffs right off very easily. In Florida I can get about 3 months solid protection with it. I can stretch Z2 a little further but Z2 doesnt give me the depth that 1000p does. 1000p gives more of a wet look, as where Z2 is more sterile. I still prefer Z2 on lighter colors.
If youre stuck on nubas, the best thing about 1000p is that you get the depth and look of a nuba, but you also get the durability of a synthetic. We'll apply a third layer in a couple months to keep the durability going strong.
