This is a discussion thread titled "Debadging & Paint color", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I started debadging my salsa red pearl Sequoia, and noticed a difference in paint color under the emblems. The paint under the emblem looks slightly orange compared to the rest of the paint.
Has anyone else seen this. Does it go away on it's own? Will waxing or buffing help?

KEN,
I HAVE 00 THUNDER GRAY BOUGHT IN 02 I TOOK OFF THE EMBLEMS AND TRD STICKERS AND ALSO THE PIN STRIPING, IN ALL AREAS THE PAINT COLOR WAS DARKER, BUT I CLEANED AND WAXED THE TRUCK AND AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS IN THE SUN U COULD NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE, IN FACT PEOPLE ASK IF I WORK FOR TOYOTA AND SPECIAL ORDERED IT WITH NO EMBLEMS ON IT.
KEVIN
The color under the badges seemed more "faded" than the rest of the paint. I'm assuming it was caused by applting them before the paint was fully cured.
Most of the difference has faded, I just hope it continues to.
After removing the SR5 badges on the side, it seems a patch of clearcoat has also come off. At first I thought it was adhesive, so I used Goof Off to try and remove. Now I realize it is a patch of removed clearcoat the size of a quarter that is very noticable. Question: Is there a product or process to applyrepair the clearcoat finish to this size gap in my clearcoat. I hate the way it looks, and like most of us, am probably the only one who really notices.
sorry to hear about both of your debadging incidents. this is the first that i've heard of this on a sequoia. i've seen it on very old cars where the badges have been removed, but not on a car so new. on the different colors, hopefully after a couple of good detailing jobs the colors will blend. in regards to the clearcoat, i have no idea. could you add clearcoat to that area? sorry i wasn't much help.
