alrighty then- who has the best method to really get the whole undercarrige clean (as if it was new again)?
winters are rough here and without the use of garage lift whats the most effective way to clean away all that salt from the hidden areas?
any new ideas?
I have a friend who washes the underside of his truck with one of these.
How did I not think of that... your friend is a genious!

Go to a self service car wash with a raincoat and goggles and something rubber to kneel on (who cares what people think?). The best way to get rid of that crap is to get down on the ground (face a foot off the ground down) and spray from underneath. You'll need to go to the truck wash one though so that the hose is long enough to get underneath. Nothing cleans like a good blast of water. Soap up whatever you can reach first with a brush though and let it soak for a while, then blast it. Simple green works great underneath.
Throw a towel in the cab though, you'll need it to wipe yourself off afterward.

How well does this work? i have a lot of mud under the frame. the bottom parts of the frame are fine, but the top, and the engine compartmnet up front still have some. think this will work??

I would compare this idea to just simply driving through some water puddles. I don't see how this could be very effective.

I would agree. The mud would have to be pretty fresh and loose for basically pouring water over it to work. But then again its probably better than doing nothing at all.
Personally I literally get under my truck and use a garden hose attachment and spray everything off.

When i get my truck real F'n dirty I take it to this guy www.detailworks.com
Ask for Steve, tell him Lalo with the Tundra sent you. His guys do great work and have won many car show awards for cleanliness.
That steam cleans everything, even the grease out of your bushings so it may squeek afterwards.
I like to use a rain gutter sprayer with adjustable nozzle angle and pressure adjustment. I'm able to direct more pressure in certain areas. I've also acquired an inspection under-vehicle mirror to complete the look around without laying on the ground. This techinque speeds up the under-body clean-up. Good Luck on your choice of cleaning skill!
just use hot water if possible. dont use the soap spray, and only use simple green where necessary & rinse well. otherwise you'll accelerate rust if it's developing.
I have been dying to go mudding on my new tundra, but dont want to get the underbody dirty. I dont want to have the underside turning orange due to all the mud. Is there anyway to get the underbody clean back to the point when it was new? I mean like super spotless?
Thanks

well, you gotta pay to play, and if you go in the mud, you will get dirty. I am gonna say no, after you go mudding, it would be a great idea to go to a pressure washer and get the majority of the mud off, but there will always be some left. You can get under there on your hands and knees and scrub, other then that, kiss your spotless undercarriage goodbye!
Brandon1, you are like many of us "neatnicks" that like (or have to) play in the mud. I love to keep my truck spotless, but there is just no way...unless. If you have a place with an outdoor drive on ramp and a low pressure steam cleaner where you can stand under the truck and clean it you can do wonders. The steam works great and you do not really need much pressure. I wish I could find a cheap low pressure steam cleaner for home use. Most of them are too expensive for me. They make electric and kerosene models.

Problem:
I have a VERY strong desire to take my truck through the mud. But as of right now, ALL of my frame and all the undercarrage doo dads still look like they came from the factory. What I want to know is how to go through the mud and still have a clean frame. I was looking at a product calld mud-off. You spray it on a surface and then mud is not supposed to stick. I am a little stuck on this idea. How do the pros clean an undercarrage? In my opinion standing beside the truck and seeing a clean black frame and components is just as important as seeing the tires and rims clean.
Please help me, it is going to rain here in nc for the next 4 days, so mudding will be inevidable.

ITS A TRUCK!!!! THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GET DIRTY it will come clean easily enough at the car wash using a pressure washer so long as you dont let it sit too long. oh and if its that red clay, if you leave that stuff on for a day or so it will become permenant just remember this if its your first real off road experience, take things slow and steady speed can break things. my advise, get it as dirty as you can and you will enjoy it more!
