Default Disrepectful!

Damn had tried to keep my truck in the best conditions possible dont even have a year with it yet and some jerk already decided that his key would do a good job of making my doors look better. Estimated 500 bucks to redo both doors man anybody know of a better solution tried buffing it out but man this key did a good job of eating straight through all the clear and paint.

Boy I feel for you. Those people (if caught) and the idiots that slam their doors into another vehicle should be cheerfully shot. Well that might be a little harsh, but they should both be responsible for a malicious property damage charge. Stories like this make me grit my teeth.

report it to the police and get a report, then report it to your insurance co. I did that when a bullet hit the roof of my truck on new years and I only had to pay the $100 comprehensive deductible, and my insurance co. paid the other $314. Yeah thats right 1 little, .30 cal bullet cost $414 to fix. Although I wouldn't take it anywhere else other than toyota to fix it and they repainted the entire roof. You can't even tell it was there.

Angry Jerks!!!!!!

04',

That makes me sick!! It's happened to me alot, especially in parking lots. Is there no respect for people and there property anymore!! Now when I go anywhere, I look for the empty area (usually way in the back) of the lot. That's o.k. we all need to exercise more anyway. But getting back to the scratches, are they really deep? Like, down to the metal? If it is, the only thing I can think of, is repainting. I know this doesn't help you in anyway, and I know how you feel. Maybe we should start putting rubber tires around our trucks, like a tugboat.

Aloha

Sorry man. I had a friend who had that happen to his taco. This black 5.0 Mustang would come the the dorms and try to burn rubber in the parking lot but he didn't know what he was doing. So my friend when outside and staged it right in front of the guy. The 5.0 would come back every night for about two weeks till finally we told him to leave. That night he came back and keyed my friend's black taco. My friend just put touch up paint on it to protect the metal then he put stripes on the sides where the the scratches were and you couldn't see it any more. The stripes were really big stickers so that could be a cheep option to getting rid of the scratches. But if your not into the racing stripes thing then you'll probably have to paint the truck.

I thought that too when mine was keyed. But after long thinking, it had more to do with it being a toyota than pissing anyone off. And guess what the suspect drives.

Launch the boat, park the truck, all other being fords, chevies and dodges. Come back from fishing and find a deep scratches down to the metal.

I feel your pain man. Last year, I had JUST finished detailing my truck, and went up to the local Wal-Mart. Parked in the back of the lot, right next to an almost as clean green f150. Make whatever assumptions about who dunnit you want, but I came back out in less than 5 minutes and had an "X" the size of my hand keyed DEEP into the drivers side rear door of my truck, and the f150 was gone!! Insurance paid it, but it was $350 just for the rear door.

Yeah, I park out in Bumfuk (it's a real place in Egypt, WAY out in the middle of nowhere) in the parking lots when I go places now because of crap like that. I was in a mall parking lot, and came out to find a nice sized dent in my passenger side rear door some prick in a red vehicle had left. I paid a $100 to get it and hail damage fixed (act(s) of nature deductible). I was going to be billed $50 for the dent, but the body shop who did the work, did it for free. They did the best they could without having to do the entire door, but you can still see it if you look for it.

What annnoys me is the people who park right next to you, when you have parked way out of their way. I can see the Ford owner being frustrated at someone parking right next to him, but he shouldn't have keyed your vehicle. Having a door fixed, or causing over $500 in damage, is a felony here in AZ and a much bigger fine (can be up to $25,000), possibly even jail time. I would've gone in to Wal-Mart security, if they had cameras in the parking lot, and asked to file a report and, if possible, see the video or obtain a copy so you can file a police report.

The BIG downside to accidents/incidents on/in parking lots here in Tucson is that 95% of parking lots are considered private property and the police will not show up unless there is personal injury. My Mom was completely out of a spot, and some Tucson Fire Deparment dick-wad backed into her causing big damage on her Camry. He said he would just say both of them were backing out, which was clearly a lie based on the damage. Our insurance still made him pay half. :-)

On a complete side-note, and obvious rambling, but a lot of Tucson's police and emergency medical personnel are complete a$$holes. I could go on with story after story of the TPD, but that is another thread.

Back on topic...

I'm sorry to hear y'all have had problems. At work, and wherever I go, I try to park as far out as possible, or when my Mom is with me, we use her handicap placard. It is sad to say, but a lot of people these days do not value what they own, or value other people's objects, unless they've stolen them and are trying to sell them on ebay.

Thanks for all the ideas guys I think im just gonna lift my truck like my old one and call it a scratch from the ranch. Nobody wants to key a truck that already has scratches. LOL

That's one reason I wanna get some rock sliders or nerf bars. If they stick out ~4" or so that should stop alot of doors. Having a lift and larger tires should help out a little too.

They can slam their doors into a set of nerf bars all they want.

I've always felt that someone who commits a crime against a person's automobile is the moral equivalent of a Horse Thief and should be dealt with in a similar manner.

gee guess this kind of thing warrants the pro's of debadging....so most
