Default How to remove scuff from my truck.

Can anyone offer any advice here and/or a product that might work. I have a white truck. Today I was carrying a wooden push broom and pulled the broom back onlyl to have the round wooden handle end of the broom scrape across my hood. I thought it had only disturbed the dust but further investigation showed a V shaped scuff on my truck about 4 inches long. It was white in color and could be seen at an angle. I thought it would come right off. But after waxes, cleaners, etc. it is still there. And I made it worse by using a polishing compound and now have dulled the paint around the scuff making it stand out even more. Can anyone help. I guess I could go to a detail shop but the thought of a high speed buffer in the hands of a employee who really doesn't know what he is doing doesn't give me a lot of confidence. There has to be some product or method for getting this out. Please advise.
Thanks
Sammy

Try working over the area with a less abrasive polish now to remove the hazing from the rubbing compound. Something locally would be Meg's ScratchX. You may have to go over the area SEVERAL times. Read and follow the directions on the tube. Then follow up with Meg's ColorX. If that doesn't take care of it, you'll need to "step it up" with something like a PC or cyclo polisher or take it to someone with rotary experience.

Thumbs up DIY w/ an orbital

Sammy, By your description, it sounds like you need to use an orbital. If you go online to autopia-carcare.com there is a wealth of info and products that discuss your problem. On my old dark green tundra, I had some major scuffs & scratches from driving on a fire road. Sooo...after reading some posts here, I purchased a Porter Cable orbital from coastal tools for around $115 and some polish, wax, & pads from griots and took care of all the imperfections myself. I had no orbital detailing experience, but the reading I did prior to using the tool made me confident, even I couldn't screw it up. It was that easy. Not to mention, you'll have a great tool for detailing your ride quickly in the future. You can do a search hear on orbital to get info. Good luck.

Yep yep. And if you do get an orbital, go with the Porter Cable 7336 instead of the 7424. The motor and body are the same, but the 7336 comes with a larger counterweight so you can use bigger foam pads...

I just bought mine today for 99.98 at lowes. the 7424 is about 130 plus unless your very lucky.
