Re: How to correctly detail your auto
I did the wifes 05 Highlander Fri & Sat. I did it by hand and it looks great. I may have to get me a buffer. It took about 7 hours total. Thanks for the information. Brandon, Do you have in recomendations as far as pads and stuff needed for the Porta Cable?

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
I've never used the clay before. Is it safe on tinted windows? Then again the tint is probably on the inside of the glass versus exterior?

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
Sorry and what about using those drying squeegees? They're wider than a typical window squeegee. As long as I wipe the edge after each stroke I should be safe right?

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
Yeah, just dont use clay on the inside.
I dont go for the water blades. One particle caught between the blade and paint, and you have swirl city.
Go to
We Are Car Care ! Car Wax - Car Polish - Auto Detailing Supplies & Car Accessories and get a guzzler. It works much better than a chamois, I can dry my truck without wringing it out.

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
Brandon, I think I'm going to detail my truck tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad, but before I do, you said the #652 is a polish, on the bottle it says precleaner. Just to clarify, It will work as a polish, right?

Would you do anything different with a clear bra applied to the front end?

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
Brandon, I just followed your suggestions and used
The 901 wash
Polished with #652
Sealed #105
and AW on top of it.
and I must say, these products are garbage!
Just kidding actually, they're amazing. My truck looks so wet and slick. It's never looked that good before. And after I applied the AW it looked ten times better. The products were so easy to use, especially the #105. The #652 dusted a lot but i hear thats totally normal. Just used a little FC&S on it to remove the dust. It looks so nice I don't even want to drive it haha

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
The only thing I'm not pleased with is that there's wax stains textured plastic. It's not from me, I taped off parts that looked like they might get wax on them, but when I bought it the dealership put a fresh coat of wax on it and did a terrible job. Any suggestions? Would a magic eraser work?

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
No problem. Thanks for getting the detailing forum back and being informative, otherwise I wouldn't know half the stuff I do.

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
Just a note on saving a buck-I have always diluted household liquid cleaners with distilled water. I found with Simple Green and Fantastik they are still potent while diluted 50%

Re: How to correctly detail your auto
Yeah, most of my dilution ratios are 5:1 or so, I never use anything straight.
