DetailingGeneral discussion forum for detailing your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Zaino Experience", within the Detailing forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Hi guys, I'm new here and was wondering about using liquid Dawn on clear coat. I was always told to use only a "car wash" but they all seem to pretty much suck. Dawn doesn't hurt the paint?
Dawn is ok to use occaisionally. Is the best soap to use to strip off old wax. Will not harm the finish. It is always the first step for me when I start my spring cleanup after a long winter.

We've discussed BEST waxes and polishes quite extensively.
Here's my opinion on two, one is ZYMOL....very nice polish, very clean in appearance once done, REAL easy off ......except WAY too much dust!
Overall I would rate this a 7 out of ten.
Now on to Zaino I kept hearing the unbelievable.
ITS ALL TRUE.......absolutely amazing. I used the scratch remover on my sons Celica 92' .....people asked if we just re-painted it?
I then did the truck with the two -part one goes on and leaves a film the other goes right over the top.....they bond......then the wipe-off......its a A$$ paino to say the least, even after waiting the full 30 minutes. I even tried 1hr. it says on the bottle it can be applied in the sun DON'T DO IT!!!!!! (I did the roof OUCH!)
OK, OK, once you get this molecular bonding completed and cleaned off.......the shine and clarity is simply NOT REAL. It look's like a lake on the calmest day of the year in the morning sun ,eerie almost.
I'm stunned at how the truck looked once in the full sun.....just gorgeous.
Then, I did my sons car again, (this is now a month or so later)from the scratch remover.....I used the two part again......without clay bar, just dish soap, and on to step one.....then step two, the paint looks mirror like. The car looks simply amazing.
I honest to god have to go out and look at the truck and car several times a day to believe it? SIMPLY amazing, the spray between polishes is also EXCELLENT.
I did use the orbital buffer to finish it off.
BUY IT... TRY IT..... YOU"LL LOVE IT......even the smell of it.
I am the most sceptical person alive... (doubting Thomas some say) WELL no more doubts...... 11 out of 10..!
Hard to answer, but they say 6 months........
What is amazing is the cost is VERY reasonable. You'd expect to pay more for this outcome.
One other thing the more you use this product the better the finish the deeper the shine. No reason to doubt them?
Just VERY,VERY hard to believe its gets better?
I'm sure other folks here could answer the longevity question. I'm guessing from the way it applies, and finish, it will be months.
I started using this stuff (ZAINO) on my 95 BMW 540sport. It is Oxford Green (much like the Green Mica) and had been car wash abused by it's first owner. It then went on to our 3 other Bimmers and now on our Tundra. The two step process need only be repeated about every 6 months. As the website says, use Dawn dish soap to wash your car, use the clay bar to remove air born contaminants and then go on to the #1 and then the #2 unless you have a lot of swirl marks and spider webs, go to #5 instead of #2. I re-polish about every month or so and use the California duster and the Spray Gloss enhancer between washings. Always use the Zaino car wash, it contains the same poly whatever that the polish does, so you are always laying down more of this stuff. It couldn't be any easier. It takes about 20 min to apply the polish and about the same to take it off. you don't need to rub hard so don't kill your self over it. Once you use Zaino you'll wonder why everyone doesn't, it's that easy. No I'm not a dealer and don't work for them, just go buy it and you'll see what I mean.
I've tried alot of different waxes/polishes and Zaino is where I stop. I love detailing up the cars, but I don't have a whole day to do it and I don't have the time to re-apply carnuba every few weeks (I live in Phoenix and the sun seems to bake it off in a matter of days!).
I'm ready to buy a black Sequoia as soon as the 2003's come out, so I've been on a mission trying to find the ideal protection. Zaino is simple to use, goes on/off like a dream (w/ no dust!), and looks absolutely amazing. I put it onto my 3 year old dark blue Grand Cherokee (don't worry...it's a lease and gets turned in in August). It looks better than new after only a wash, clay, and the Z5. It's a very unique shine that is head turning. I'm not going to waste any more on the Grand Cherokee...can't wait for the Sequoia! As far as the longevity, I see no reason not to believe the advertising or the other members reports.
Get some and try it, you WILL NOT be disappointed!
Oh yeah...save your money on the orbital. NOT NEEDED! Zaino is cake to apply and remove.
After reading some of the posts about white not being clear coat paint I am confused.
Will the Z2 designed for clear coat paint harm my finish on my white 2002 Sequoia ? My thought is that the Z2 will work fine while not being as abrasive as the Z3 .
Am I OK with the Z2 or should I call Zaino and have them switch me some Z3 before they ship?
gnb....
I read that thread too, but am not so sure that only certain colors are not clearcoat.
Instead of calling Zaino, call any Toyota dealership bodyshop to find out for sure about the clearcoat issue.
BTW, you'll love Zaino. They make a very durable product.
I would start with Toyota and then call Zaino. I have heard that the people at Zaino are very helpful, and I have no complaints about my local Toyota dealership in Walnut Creek. I did not even buy ny truck there, and they have always been helpful...

i too tried to modify my order to switch from clear coat z2 to standard z3. (after i found out the black on my sequoia is not clear coat). i sent an email to zaino, but sal zaino replied that by the time he see's the order it's to late. ended up placing another order. i guess i'll use the z2 on the wifes car.
