Default Auxiliary Power Outlets

I just got my '03 Double Cab 4x4 yesterday - awesome truck! I did a search on this but didn't find a thread - has anyone figured out how to make the auxiliary power outlets hot all the time?

Yes, they have figured out how to make them hot all the time, in fact, you can have one hot all the time, and one turn off with the iginiton. This "mod" is very easy to do, and should take no more than 20 minutes.

If you're a member, you can look for the solution in the Garage section.

If you're not a member, It's definately worth the small investment.

I've done this mod and am very happy with it.

Thanks TruckerDave - I found the info. in the Garage. Location of the relay is in a different place in my '03 Tacoma - relay is the bottom one (closest to fender) in the right-hand row (when standing over driver's side fender looking down at the fuse box under the hood). I made a small jumper wire with male tabs on each end and plugged it into the two bottom female connections in the socket where the relay went - both auxiliary sockets are now hot all the time, but still protected by a 15 amp fuse (located in the same fuse box). The cigarette lighter plug is still switched; this setup will work great for my purposes! I threw the relay in the glove box; will take about 15 seconds to restore the plugs to factory - just remove the jumper wire and plug the relay back in.

Of course you're a member (duh to me!) you created this thread in the garage section!!

I guess I had a brain fart when I was replying to your first post.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you.

Actually I didn't create this post in the Garage section - I think one of the moderators moved it there. You're not crazy after all!

I moved this thread to the "Garage" as it gave actual steps to perform the mod and only contained posts from existing club members.

No problem - thanks Glenn. And if anyone reading this post would like pictures of the actual mod, I've got a digital camera and would be glad to take a few shots - just pm me.

Would make for the first Tacoma How-To here. How about writing it up emailing me the pictures and I will build a page for it - would be a candidate for Mod-of-the-Month.
Regards
Glenn
