Default Wii housing handle increased headlight wattage?

I need to be able to see farther down the road at night, but don't want to melt the headlamp reflectors. Will the headlight housing be able to handle the extra heat of higher wattage headlight bulbs, say, 80/100w? Has anyone installed these?
Thanks,
Tripod

I'd upgrade the wiring and socket--you'll likely overheat the socket and maybe the wires. I don't know about the reflector & lens. If you have DRLs, they won't work with the upgraded wiring.

I've been using these Osram SilverStar bulbs with standard wattage and heat, but 50% greater light output, and I'm very satisified with them.

Ken,

Would I be able to use the Osram Silverstar bulbs, 55/60W, in my Sequoia without changing the wiring harness?

Thanks.

Thanks, Ken,
I'm planning on upgrading the wiring and sockets (if I can find the sockets).
What's a DRL?
Thanks,
Tom

The sockets are located inside the headlight boots which are behind the headlight assembly. The boots are those big round black things hugging the back of the headlights under the hood. On the drivers side they would be located in front of the battery, on the passengers side, they would be located in front of the air box.

Hope this helps.

Kornkid,
Just plug them in.

Tripod,
A upgrade wiring harness is complete with the heavier wiring, heavier duty sockets, and relays.

fyr145,
I had to laugh - anyone who writes anything takes the chance that he will be misunderstood. I'm afraid I didn't do a very good job of expressing myself when I wrote:

"I'm planning on upgrading the wiring and sockets (if I can find the sockets)."

I meant - if I can find a source to purchase the heavy duty sockets.

Sorry about the mis-communication. I very much appreciate your willingness to assist. I see you are from Phoenix. I hope you are enjoying better weather than we are at Grand Canyon. I haven't had my motorcycle out for weeks.
Thanks again,
Tom

Cool

Installed PIAA 80/80 H-4s, P/N 881055, almost 2 years and 80.000 miles ago. Lots of early morning and evening driving. Stock harness and no probs, whiter/brighter lights. Obvious difference on dark desert highways (no ... not the Eagles tune).
