Default 2000 Tundra key fob help

I just bought the truck. When I was going though the glove box I found a paper saying the truck has the factory installed RS3000. I don’t live in the best neighborhood and would like to be able to use the alarm. When I bought the truck the owner didn’t have any key fobs for it. What if anything can I do at this point? Can I program one to it with out an existing key fob? Other than the dealer where can I buy the fob for the factory installed RS3000?

Thanks

M

you can buy new fobs on ebay or someplace on google I'm sure of it. And you can program the new fobs to match your truck's unit.

I’ve been shopping for them online, I’ve only been able to find ones that clam to work for a dealer installed RS3000 and not the factory. Does that make a difference? Thanks for the help.

You will need to locate the RS3000 ECU module (about the size of a cigarette pack) under the left (drivers) side of your dash. It's normally just to the right of the steering column against the interior firewall but it has been located in other places under the left side. You need to have the FCC alpha-numeric numbers from it so you'll have the numbers to match the signal frequency with the correct key fob. Only fobs with the same FCC # will work. The ECU usually will have some gray foam around it and be zip tied to a bracket. It can be a bugger to find so be patient and use a flashlight to look under there.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!

Follow what Larry said, then get either one (dealer or factory) RS3000, both the same.
