Default Any DEI alarm experts out there?

Hey guys, I have a tough one here. I'm installing an add on alarm system (automate AM1) into my parent's 07 corolla LE and am having a tough time programming the thing. The unit will not disarm and won't let me enter the programming mode to change the active arming setting. All connections and wiring are spot on - I don't understand this piece of poop. Is there any way to reset the thing, since it remembers all the settings even when you disconnect the power to it? I used to install alarms in cars for a living a few years back, but I don't have that much experience with DEI products. I'm getting ready to smash the thing and install a prestige system. Any takers on this one???
