This is a discussion thread titled "AC Outlet in bed?", within the Electrical & Computer Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just bought a 750 watt inverter (we're moving, and I had to take shelves down after the power had been turned off). Anyways, I want to hard wire it into the truck. I will probably mount it under the center console with an extra fan to prevent heat buildup. I'm going to have two plugs inside, and one in the bed.
What is the best way to have an AC outlet in the bed? I was thinking of using one of those waterproof boxes and faceplates that cover the plugs. And of course running everything properly along the frame rail in loom. Sounds like a trip to Home Depot is in store this afternoon to search for waterproof/resistant boxes.
EDIT: I mounted one plug in the lower dashboard, there is still going to be another one right next to it. It is mounted sideways so I can plug in the bigger power bricks.

it's a good ideal but ill say this look at the Tacoma setup since it has that feature and the box too. The part list is there aka Tacoma..
Yea, the tacoma bed is plastic though, so I don't think it would fit the tundra that well
