Default My guages and daytime running lights just went out

I haven't looked in the manual yet to see where the fuse is located (kind of funny that it went out though) but my fuel, oil pressure, speedo, tack, odometer and running lights just went out this evening.

The headlight still work but the DLRs don't.

Kind of dumb, but the way I really noticed it was when I backed out of the driveway with the parking break on and the light was out. It wasn't until I was blocks away and I realized that the speedo was out too.

Any ideas or anyone know where the fuse is located?

Fuse is in the Underdash Fuse Box (left side of dash), marked "Gauge" on the cover. Have a pair of needle nose pliers handy because changing those fuses is a pain without them.

FYI, the Gauge fuse also powers the Backup Lamps. If your Gauge fuse keeps blowing, you might want to check for a short in the backup lamps.

Default Mucho Thankso

Thanks you guys. Seems simple enough, but it's dark now. I might pop the panel to take a look when I get home.

I figure it was in the inside panel, but I wasn't sure. Now I'll have to find out what size it is. Hopefully Toyota packs some extra fuses like on my Nissan. If not, I'll be heading to the auto store early tomorrow.

I wonder what blew the circuit? You know, I've had an extra set of backup lamps on that circuit for a year now, wonder if that load finally took it's toll. I've been meaning to put a relay in. Maybe now I'll have to do it right.......

The extra fuses and fuse puller are in the lid of the underhood fuse/relay box. I think the Gauge fuse is 10A -- running extra backup lamps directly off that circuit is NOT recommended!

Wow, thanks for that note on the extra fuses. I had the cover off under the hood, but I don't remember there being a puller and fuses there.

I don't have any micro fuses around so I'll have to pick up a supply and throw more in. My pathfinder has ton of extra fuses from the factory still.

I've been running backups off that system for almost a year now with no problem.

Actually, the only thing that was different in the past day was that my girl friend set off the alarm.

Yeah, it's a 10 amp fuse. I pulled it last night when I got home. I'll try to put a new one in and see if I can defer putting a relay in for a while.

I've been thinking about that the past month or so that it's probably time to put a relay in. I want to put a power outlet back there too so I've been kind of looking around at my options.

But I think that it might be better to just run an 8 guage wire back there and just figure out what to do next.

Alan
