Default HID retrofit's

So I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on doing my own retrofit for HID's for the 07 Tundra. I know there is a ton of people on here 1st and 2nd gen tundra's that have retrofit their own or have had others do the retrofit for them. Either way I don't care who did the retrofit. I would love to see the output pics of them though!

I am not interested in your ebay bought headlights that are not true HID retrofit headlights. I want to see the real deal. I think I have figure out what setup I am going to go with but I want to see what you all have and the results! Please when posting your pictures remember the forum rules and making sure them pictures are not too big. Also what projector and such you went with. Post as many pics as you can to show exactly what you are working with

I am on other forums that I have talked to people but not too many trucks on those forums and that is why I am posting in here. Please share!

Here are some output pictures for my 1st generation Tundra. Used FX bi-xenon projectors with clear lenses, philips bulbs, and nissan ballasts. Gattling gun shrouds. Excellent beam pattern for both low and high beams. These will easily overpower other vehicle lights on the road. The high beam completely overpowered my hella 4000's with 100 watt bulbs that were on my light bar.

my retro is pretty much the same as dibble's but I'm still jealous of him as he did everything himself.

i'll try and scrounge up some pictures to show my lights.

Here are some shots of my lights and output. Sorry but we don't have too much wide walls that aren't patroled by security or not fenced off from the public...these shots are shot across the street into my neighbors place.

I got the fx35 projectors w/g35 lens swap, 85122+ 4.3k, nissan 2nd gen ballast I believe, and gatlin gun shrouds also. Housing blacked out.

If I come across a nice wide enough wall then i'll try and snap some pics if I can remember to bring the camera. Oh yea and I sent my lights out to get retrofitted.

Thanks guys!! Any GEN 2 peeps want to chime in with theirs? I have seen Third's lights but not shots of the output. I am still on the fence....600+ for headlights seems a bit stiff but its for fun too though

just remember that if you want to play...you gotta pay!

$600 is not bad for the retro service if that's what you were quoted! I know of several retrofitters that start at twice that, and they only do certain models of vehicles.

Though i'm sure you already know to expect to at least pay several hundred at the least for a retro if your doing it yourself. At the cheapest i'd venture an estimate to be around $200-$300, but that's going with lower quality projectors, cheap shrouds, and cheaply made electronics.

BTW, what setup did you have in mind?

Acura TL bi-xenon projectors
Hella Gen 3 style 35w HID ballasts
Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs
probably ls460 shroud...still undecided on the shroud

I know I am gonna have to pay and that is exactly why I haven't pulled the trigger on it just yet.
Its very expensive. I was just reading another posting in the 2nd gen forum and there is a couple
of peeps in there that don't know a thing about HID and there is A LOT of people driving around
without a true HID setup with HID bulbs.....I just can't believe people actually think that they can
just put in HID bulbs where ever they feel and it should work like normal. Anyway yeah I know its
on the expensive side but that is fine. Just trying to justify spending the money on the headlight
aspect of my truck. Its not like I can't see already....the level kit when it was put on gave me
way better site then stock and I love how I can see a lot now....I just think the HID's will make it
that much better!

I am supposed to be getting all of the components for my retrofit on Tuesday. I got the following:
Projectors: Acura TL Bi-xenon projectors
Shrouds: Ocular Shroud
HID Ballast: Matsushita Gen 3 Ballasts
HID Bulb: Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs
Wiring Harness: H-4 Bi-xenon Harness
Clear Projector Lens: ZKW Replica Lenses (3")

I bought all of my componenets from The Retrofit Source. If you buy everything at once, Matt will give you a discount. He is a great person to deal with. I also bought another set of headlights so I can work on them during the Holidays at Certifit.

Hey I'm just curious, do any of you guys who did the retrofit have a lift on your truck? I have the Fabtech coil-overs with Total Chaos UCAs and a 295/75/16 tire. The reason I ask is how did you account for the front of the truck sitting so high? Isn't that a real hazard for other drivers around you. At the moment I have an HID kit with a true Hi/Lo solenoid which doesn't bother too many drivers. Thanks guys for your input.

It should not matter since with most retrofits, you are still able to adjust the headlights.

Ok good to know. I want to do the TFX projector with a 55W digital kit and I didn't want it to be insane bright and annoying for other drivers. Thanks.
