Re: DRL,lights
Here's how I made out with the Lite-Minder DRL relay. It worked fine with the low beam lights, but blew its 20A inline fuse every time the high beams were activated. I burned out 6 fuses trying to get it to work. The supplier advised I bring it to a mechanic. Yeah, right! So I connected the relay to the fog lights, instead.
It works now and gives the added benefit of being able to have your fogs on with any other light configuration: no other lights, parking lights, low beams, and high beams. For use in real fog, the low and high beams kind of defeat the purpose being on at the same time. Added light reflection.
If you use the included resistor to lower the output of the bulbs, you will have operation closer to the manufacturer's design; bright fogs with your low beams and dimmer fogs with every other setting.
I'm satisfied. It remains to be seen how long the bulbs last being on continuously.
Basically, it's easy to connect. Four wires: one to battery, one to ground, one to hot wire or fuse with ignition on, and one to the hot wire of the light. The resistor is cut in to the battery wire, if desired. The relay can be screwed to the cowl or double sided tape works fine. It's very light in weight. The resistor should be screwed to a metal surface as it gets very hot. Another reason I'm not using it and burning the bulbs at full strength.
