Default No back up lights on 08 Tundra

First let me say that I am not proficient with 12 V electrical systems on automobiles. Yesterday I proved it trying to install auxiliary backup lights on my Tundra. Here is the link I started for that project to get started http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...eded-new-post/ at the end of that link I gave an update that said post hookup I do not have any back up lights on the vehicle or auxiliary system. All other systems seem to work including brakes, turn signals and hazard functions of the rear lights. FYI, I used the center pin for my trailer harness as my power source (Grey wire) and a bolt that holds the rear bumper on as my ground. I used the Grey so the auxiliary lights will only go on when the vehicle is in reverse.
Once it warms up a little I am going to start looking at fuses. I thought the vehicle and trailer fuses are two different systems, each having their own fuse. Where is the fuse panel on the drivers side interior? is it under the steering wheel or in the kick panel? If the fuses all check out as good where should I look next ground locations, polarity on the light hookup?

I AM AN IDIOT!

Default Re: No back up lights on 08 Tundra

Not sure what I did different but...took the entire hook up off, put a new fuse in and the vehicle back-up system worked again. I then rewired everything and hooked it up again. This time I used temporary hook-ups before finalizing. Everything worked as it should and no blown fuses, weird. I finished the project off by soldering each connection, applying liquid electrical tape to make it weather resistant and finally reinstalled the corrugated plastic covering for the entire loom and a good tight rap of electrical tape to finish it off.

Fort Knox style if you will!
