Turn Signal Red Outs?

I've had my 09 Tundra for almost a week (loving it) and this is the first thing I'm going to change.

The yellow/orange/amber whatever color you like to call it turn signals/side mirror lights (I have the tow mirrors w/ turn signal) are bugging me.

I'm thinking about swapping the orange bulbs for red led's and was wondering if anyone else has done it? I'm guessing it will look fine...but there's one obstacle...the amber/orange color on the actual mirror. A red led won't show through red with the cover...anyone seen an OEM clear cover? This was a problem on my is350 but I used red vinyl to put over the orange plastic and it worked fine..but this seems to be thicker and I don't know if the light will get through.

any ideas?

You may want to check DMV regulations about a red turn signal indicator on the front of a vehicle. Those red led arrows can only be seen from the rear

yeah I doubt they're legal in Virginia...since just about everything isn't. but I'm more concerned with the tails/side mirrors.

If you haven't noticed the mirrors are on the front half of the vehicle, not the back. The arrow mirrors are ok because you can only see them from the back. you could be spending time and money on a project that is only going to bring more work.
you could swap them out for the arrow mirrors

whether or not the lights in the mirrors are legal does not bother me.

Swapping them is an option, but I'm trying to see if anyone has changed the bulbs first.
