Default Back-Up and Cargo Lights - Brighter???

The stock back-up and cargo lamps use a 921 bulb that is rated at 18 watts. I have tinted windows and want to put something brighter in back there. I've looked everywhere and can't find that bulb in a higher wattage. Are they not available, or is there another bulb number that will fit and be brighter?

There've been a few mods done, but I don't think there's a replacement bulb available. There's some tricks in the Garage, including adding aux. backup lamps under the bumper. I did that route and it works great.

If anyone has found some brighter bulbs let us know. One of my in the roof cargo lights went out this weekend so I need to replace the bulb anyway.

You could try painting the inner part of the housing behind the bulbs w/chrome paint to make them reflect more light out.

Are you talking about the reverse lights, because they're already chrome on the inside. Not sure what's on the inside of the cargo lamps though.

Hey Bill,

There's a divider between the back up bulb and the other bulbs. Take it out and paint it like ZK said. I saw this in a mod someone put in a thread but I can't find it now. JB

I got these lenses off of ebay. The inside is already chrome. The stock ones might not be. Look at this pic.

I got them about a year ago when they first came out for $140. Now you can get them on ebay for about $70. Can't wait to hear about the Y-Pipe. PM me when you get a chance after the install.
