Default Schematic Question

I know this is probably an elementary query for those with electrical experience so rather than plunge ahead without consultation and commit some disastrous wiring faux pas perhaps someone can advise whether or not this will work.

It involves wiring an on-off-on lighted rocker switch into my existing auxiliary back up light circuit. I have found threads on simple on-off-on toggle switch applications but not one on lighted rocker switches hence the question.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

to add a lighted switch, you just need to add power or ground to the light tab on the switch depending on the application

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure before I made all the connections. Now I can throw away SERVPRO's phone number.

What is it you are trying to accomplish? Does the rocker switch have 2 different lights?

The rocker switch does have two different lights. Each of the two on positions has an internal light and is activated when that particular circuit is being used.

I was unsure whether the ground for the indicator lights (terminal 4) would be in conflict with the two separate power sources i.e. the trigger from the existing back up light switch (automatic operation of aux. lights) and the switched power source for manual operation of the aux.lights. The PDF files illustrate the terminal connections and that's the gist of the question illustrated in the Schematic Page 2 PDF file.

I may be obsessing too much over this but circuits and electricity can be intimidating to novice electricians.

Thanks again for your interest.

At the moment I don't see a possible short since terminal 1 and 3 (schematic 2) will always be isolated from each other. It's like wiring a SPDT relay (has an 87a and 87 terminal) "backwards"

Thanks Eddie. That's the confirmation I needed. I thought I was safe with this set up but needed a more qualified opinion. I appreciate your help.

Best regards,
