Arkie I have done the same mod to mine. I have not had a single problem with it either, but I always have my dash lights set to the brightest setting too. I have turned the fogs off and on many times to see what difference the lights make to. I seem to remember when doing the mod that it basically was taking the power from the dash light circuit to power the relay for the fog lights. If so it would make sense that having the reostat turned down might not be letting enough juice get thru to power the relay. But then again there are MUCH better electrical guys on here than me. Let us know when you get it figured out.
MODS: Better Built alum toolbox w/lights 2 inside 2 outside, lots of antennas, CB/Ham/Scanner/linear amp all mounted in custom made console, 10 disc CD player, DEI Sidewinder 5000 ESP alarm, undercarriage entry lights, extra set 55W reverse lights, underhood light, TRD add-a-leaf (ordered), Lund bugshield, chrome step tubes, UTR bedliner, hitch, tinted windows, fuzzbuster hard wired, 4 block power terminal under dash, 12V Acc plug engine compartment, synthetic oils, fog light mod, cargo light mod, acc plug mod, map light mod, back seat angle mod soon, 2 TS stickers (back windows), 2 TS license plate frames (front, rear)

I tried mine while driving to work this morning. Even with the dimmer turned all the way down, they still turned off OK. Let us know what you find out.

Arkie: My first thought was that you wired in on the wrong side of the rheostat, but after reading the rest of your post, it sounds like you have that covered. When I modified mine, I didn't change the switch illumination as you did. I've never had mine fail to turn off, but I usually have the dash lights turned up pretty bright. I talked with Glenn the other day about the the text of the Non-DRL mod and had him make a couple of changes for accuracy. Now I'm wondering if the part of the mod (Method 2) which gives your fog lamp switch illumination when the lamps are on, is causing a feedback current which is enough to hold the relay in. I don't have the diagrams but you might check closely if there is a way that a small current might be finding a ground through the relay or something and causing your problem. It almost seems like someone mentioned having to put in a diode in one of the old posts. If you want, I can check to see if mine act up if the dash lights are turned down. Good luck!

I just discovered something unusual with my fog lights this morning. I have done the fog light mod that allows the fog lights to be on anytime the park lights are on. I also do not have DRLs. Anyway, I was cruising along about 4:30 this morning and just thought I would turn off my fog lights. They wouldn't go off. I tried the switch several times with no luck. I finally quickly turned all of my headlights off for a brief second and when I turned them back on the fog lights were off. I pushed the fog light button and they came on, but again, they would not go off. I figured the switch contacts were sticking and by turning off the headlights I broke the circuit farther upstream that allowed the fog light relay to drop out. I kept fiddling with it and happened to turn up the brightness on my dash lights. Now the fog lights would come on and go off every time I pushed the fog light button. I then turned down the dash light dimmer switch (a rheostat) and the fog lights would not go off when I pushed the button off. The ability to turn off the fog lights was totally dependent on the position of the dash light dimmer. If it was set to bright (CW rotation), the fogs worked perfectly. If it was set to dim (CCW rotation), the fog lights would not go off. Weird. I know this fog light mod taps off the +12VDC supply upstream of the rheostat, but I don't fully understand what is happening here. I also have my fog light switch illumination wired to come on with the fog lights. This may have something to do with the problem. Looking at the wiring diagram, I see that the ground side of this switch light goes through the integration control module before going to ground. This might be the problem. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have a 05 Toy Tundra . Is there a way to modify the current setting for the fog lights to stay on when I switch to High beams ? The Factory setting turns them off when the highbeams are on.

I solved this one for you last year. I did a complete write up in the mods and how to section specifically to anser your question. It has detailed instructions. Many have used my mod and they have all succeeded in making it work. You might need to be a subscriber to see it though. Well worth the price of admission for this mod alone.
