Wes,
You should use tach mode, so the starter doesn't over crank the engine and the remote computer knows the engine has started . The ECU is behind the glove box. The coil wire mentioned is the front right ignitor when looking at the engine from in front of the truck.

I just installed a remote start. It has tach and tachless mode. It is in tachless mode now but it takes 2 or 3 cranks to start. I noticed on the electronic faq it said this is the tack wire.

"*1 - You can use the Blue/White on connector E4 of the ECU or the Black/Blue at coil #1 on the drivers side"

can you explain how to get to these wire? Where is the E4 of the ecu??
Thanks,

Wes Reed

Default CompuStar on 05 DC

I have a 05 Tundra Double Cab. I recently purchased a CompuStar remote started. My question is, do I need a bypass module and if so which one?

Yes, you will need a bypass module for your remote start system. You should have no problem using another manufacturer's bypass module with the Compustar remote start. In fact, I'm thinking about buying a Compustar remote start/alarm system, and was told that I can use a DEI bypass module with the Compustar 2W900FM-AS.

What I would do is go on ebay and find someone selling the same model remote start system that you bought. Send them an email and ask what model bypass module they recommend for your Toyo. Even if they don't sell the bypass modules, you should be able to find another person selling one.

When you get it hooked up, post again to let me know how you like the Compustar. That model is supposed to have a top range of 3000 feet outdoors!
