Default HID Projector Head Lamps for '08 Tundra

I have been looking and looking and it seems like the choices are limited. I would like to find some HID projector lamps for my truck, but I am not big on the "Halo" look or LEDs. Just looking for something with a little less "bling". Any recomendations?
    Thanks,
    Ken

are you talking about the lamps you find on ebay and such? If you want less bling I'd suggest spending the few extra bucks and getting a retrofit done. That way you can have it designed to how YOU want it to look and the look could be essentially OEM styled if that's what you prefer. Not to mention the durability of the headlamps will outlast those aftermarket types by far.

Thanks Kaleo. I have looked on eBay, but also did a pretty exhaustive internet search looking at various web sites. Where would you pick up the retrofit lamps?
    Thanks again,

Your best option will be to do a retrofit ..! the simplier the cheaper!

you will need a set of projectors, shrouds, hid bulbs, hid ballast, hid harness.
and some xtra time to do the job.!

but I'm telling you, you will love it.
I started with a single set, now I have a dual set installed on my truck!

I'll upload a video of my set up soon so u can see what I'm talking about

How did you physically mount the projectors in the housing? What did you use to hold them in and position them? I just ordered my set of fx-r's and goodies and I am trying to figure out the best way to put them in....

I'm glad that you are going with the Fx-r. Best option for the money.
I did try all the possible ways to mount them and the best one is using 4 5inch screws/bolts with nuts. I used the lines in the reflector for reference, drilled 4 pilot holes for accuracy then I made the permanent holes. finally to get the projectors in an almost perfect position I had to tie the bolts equally so before cutting the excess I needed to make sure they were the same size. this is key to getting them in the right position.
    then I made minor adjustments.

Did you ever see them in Action? if you didn't Take a look at this ...

I still have pictures and videos from all the retrofits that I made that I can put together to post on "DIY" threads if anyone is interested

    Mrtundra57:
all depends on your skills and if you are married
If you want something simple like a single set of projectors, no Led's, no Demon eyes and you follow step by step my directions, you might get it done in 6-8 hrs.
However, if you want double set with Led's and demon eyes you are looking at more like 20-24 hrs.

As to cost for a simple retrofit your talking $300 to $500.
for something like I have between $1500-$2500. Depending on the quality of the projectors.
You will find projectors on eBay anywhere between $70-$400 of varying quality and some used and some new.

Sweet! Thanks a ton! That was what I was thinking I would do but I wasnt sure how well the back would fit over the screws once installed. Do you have any pictures of the process or what the back of the lights looked like before you put the back on the reflector? Thanks again!

Pazorell69: That is awesome! Those look REALLY nice. Do the HIDs install from the back or do you have to remove the lens to do the install?

I saw the video, GREAT job. How hard was it to remove and reinstall the lense? Once you open the headlamp housing are there any condesation issues to be concerned about? On my old truck one of the bulb boots came loose and I had condesation problems from then on.
Thanks again for the info, excellent work!

    Ken
Yes, you will need to remove the lenses in order to install the projectors in the reflectors.
Once the projectors are installed, the Hid bulbs can be replaced like you do with regular bulbs from the outside of the headlights.

    Thanks for the comments!

Condensation happens all the time. But is the installer's fault!
you should add more sealent when you are putting the lenses back together, making sure there is no sealent free spaces.

But dont worry--when I get my "DIY thread" done I'll cover all these topics ...!

Sweet! The DIY will be a HUGE hit and will earn you lots of thanks!
I have done a LOT of mods, but I may let the pros handle this one for me. I basically just want the Bi-Xenon projector with the E55-R Shrouds. I did not realize that the Bi-Xenon had bothlow and high beams. If I had that, I would like to put the Raptor 35w setup in the stock high beam spot for a very cool high beam setup. I don't need LEDs, HALOs or anything,
Is the Mini-Morimoto stuff good quality?
