For those of you who are interested, I researched till my eyes bled on the 9006 fog light bulbs for our trucks.
I wanted amber/yellow/gold coloring (like the old Cibies or Fox lights) without changing anything but the bulbs. Yellow reflects less light during foul weather conditions. NO one made a decent set, there were some made by Polarg and PIAA but at prices ranging from $80-120 and no warranty, I wasn't willing to chance it.
I came across a set for $30, with a year warranty from www.supremepowerparts.com out of Placentia, CA. This seemed worth a try, so I bought a set.
Install is simply a swap, easy on my '02. After cleaning the bulbs with rubbing alcohol and locking them into the fog light housings, I turned them on. The light isn't exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for pure yellow or amber or gold. These bulbs emit a yellowish hue that still is white. There is definitely a difference between the original fog light bulb and this, but not as much as I wanted.
All in all, I'll keep these in. Still waiting for some foul weather to arrive to try them. BTW, I got the stock wattage of 55w, rather than the 80w they also offer. Didn't need any trouble with melted wiring!

Unfortunately the really really yellow bulbs from "back in the day" used some cancerous stuff to color the glass,so they're no longer manufactured. And there's no way I'd spend $80-120 on some ion crystal PIAA or Polarg bulbs either.
The most yellow output I've found is by actually installing yellow bulb sleeves into the foglight. This is how Lexus gets that nice yellow beam on GS400/430 and GS300 models (with HID option),the bulbs are standard clear 9006. They've even turned output of real HID bulbs to yellow. I have pics in My Photos of the bulb sleeves

Thanks for the "old school" schooling Ed! Can you advise me on where you get the yellow filter, cost and what exactly is involved in converting the fog light? Is this going to be permanent, or something that can be converted back to clear? Thanks again Eddie!

I got the Xenon Gold light for my snowmobile for the same reason you mentioned. As you found out they are not as good as they seem. There is a pic of it in my photos. The pic is labelled "Winter-toys 2" My sled is the one with the yellow belley pan.

Since the sleeves are glued on,this mod isn't really reversible. I could probably try a friction-fit to hold the sleeves in,but they make come loose due to vibration.
The foglights have to be disassembled and seperated. They lens is glued to the housing so you need to heat them up. You can follow Dennis' (BKA 2DaMax) how-to here Fog lamp fogged up! He took his fogs apart due to a popped bulb.
The sleeves were $8 each from SUV Lights (KLS has the link posted). They're originally for H4 bulbs but they fit around 9006 bulbs too. If you can find some yellow tinted glass tubing around 1" diameter they'd work too,the key is to surround the bulbs with yellow.
Well after much debate I decided NOT to seperate the fog light housing and lenses (more out of fear of buggering it up and having to pay for a new assembly) HOWEVER, with the Sylvania Silverstars bright white light color, I can now see a definite yellow coming from the supremepower bulbs. The cut offs for the lights are now very defined, I am happy, but not as happy as if I had the most yellow fog lights that I could.

I have no need for the 9006 but if I was looking for yellow I'd probably give it a shot. Don't know if beam pattern is exact or not, just thought I'd toss the link.
