Default HOW-TO: Upgrade to RS3200Plus for $5

Thanks to JTMEYER and the others in here for this great mod! I got it all accomplished in about three hours time. That includes having to go to walmart to buy a few things in the middle of it. I had a question but got it resolved. When you disconnect the jumper cable, do not connect the cable to anything, it just hangs there.
Does anyone know what the white plug-in that looks like you can plug this to is for? It is mounted to the top of ther wireing harness just to the side of the E brake. Just wondering Anyway, thanks again!!! It only cost me 6.87

Glad it worked out for you. I can't take full credit, though. Rlockyer, Gilley, and nhparrot supplied much of the knowledge. I just happen to be very cheap and got lucky with the microphone part of the mod. Don't forget to tell your insurance company that you have an alarm system - they may give you a discount.

For those who don't mind spending a little extra money, INFERNL documented how to do this upgrade using OEM parts in HOW-TO: $20 full RS3200 upgrade -OEM parts!

I think you may be referring to the white wiring connector just "above" the e-brake, if so it is normally for the connection to power seats (if you have power seats). I tapped into that for some mod I did, it has constant + power to it (not switched).

Just curious here,

once the mod is inplace what all is the rs3200 securing? The alarm will sound against window breaks, but if a thief broke the window, and then got in the truck, would they be able to drive the truck away, or is there an engine emobilizer?

Default Alarm system bug

I just did the $5 upgrade (well $2 upgrade since didn't get the correct mic - Radio shack P/N 270-090 by mistake), so just went ahead and put in the LED, and will do the mic and sensitivity adjustment later. I figured was no big deal since the alarm would go off if someone did get in and tried to open the door....unless they used the electric door locks! That's right, when I did my testing with the window down the alarm would go off with manually unlocking the door but when I hit the un-lock button it just shut off the alarm and then unlocked the doors!!! Anybody else notice this? (presumably the punks ripping off cars already know...)

Guess I better get the right mic although the $20 upgrade sounds like it's worth looking into....
