Default Day Time Running Lights

I have a 04 Tundra Double Cab LTD. When it was ordered day time running lights(DTL) were not ordered, now they are an option.
Can anyone give information on how they can be installed.
I did call Toyota and they said it was a factory install.
Any help would help as I think they are a big safty thing.
I would run with lights on all the time but you can't see
the dash lights ,clock and temp, in the day light with the
lights on. And the lights burn out a lot faster.
Love the truck, my third Toyota sence 93

Default Re: Day Time Running Lights

You can add daytime running lights, but the price would be well over $3000.00 + ?

You have to change wire harnesses, body ECU, DRL relay, resistor, ect...
Plus the labor to do it.

I would look into the aftermarket for a add-on DRL system.

Arrow This is how I did it for $20

As mustang67408 mentioned, the non DRL and DRL vesions have different Body ECU, relays and totally different wiring on the headlights.
But I was able to install DRL on my Sequoia for only $20 and works great.
The non DRL version switches the the negative side for Hi & Lo beam and the relay supplys the 12V.
I use CASCO Daytime Running Llights KIT p/n 700514.
The cool part of the kit is that it supplies 75%-80% voltage on the orange wire when the yellow wire has 12V and the blue wire does not have 12V. Therefore I conected the yellow to the yellow on the generator and the blue to the 'park' LED signal. This way the DRL is On only when the engine is working and the shiftstick is not on 'park' position. I have connected the red wire to the constant 12V wire for one of the doors and the orange wire to the common pin of one of the the headlights. With this kit and the way I have installed, there is no need to cut any wire or to change wire places or anything like that. I can simply remove all the added wires and the whole thing will go back to the stock non DRL version
