Question Fog Light Mod Question

Today I did the Fog light mod, and it works awesome. My Question is should the fog lights turn off with the truck? Right now when I have my Fog lights turned ON They stay on when I shut my truck off. Is this the case for all? or did I do somthing wrong?

make sure you have the lights on then shut truck off and see if they go off - if the truck is shut off mine go off but if i just hit the switch they turn back on with the truck off. -also do the security mod -look up $20 rs3200 upgrade - i did it when i did my fog light mod and i found a cool side affect - if you leave the fog lights on but shut off the all other lights when you shut the door and arm the alarm the parking lights flash and the fog lights to... it looks real cool to me thought you might like that. -make sure you do the $20.00 upgrade not the other ones listed -it uses a part made by toyota that fits in your dash- if you have any questions let me know.

I have an '01 not an '03 (the mod might be different) but mine turn off with the truck. Only time they come on is when the parking lights get turned on. At least on the '01 mod the wire you tie (splice) into is the parking light circuit. So it makes sense whenever the parking lights are on the fogs are on, as long as the fog light switch is left in the ON position. And yes my fogs also flash with my alarm arm/disarm.

Cant speak for the RS3200 mod as my alarm is aftermarket.

No they dont turn off, The only way the fog lights turn off is if I turn them off. I tried all options and they stay on unless I switch them off.

did I possible patch in the wrong wire?

sounds like you wired them to an always live circuit. What instructions did you follow?

I did the mod and mine also stayed on all the time unless I turned them off. But I think this was becuase I had did the power outlet mod to keep them hot all the time by removing the relay and jumpering the input power to the relay to the output side of the relay with a short piece of wire. So what I did was remove the coil wire for the power outlet relay and install it in the coil slot for the foglights relay which gives me power to the relay only if the truck key is turned on.

I just powered them from the fuse panel left of steering colum..... on the ignition side and they go off when I turn the key off. I like to use them as DRLs as, even though I ordered them I did not get them.
I guess I should say activate them from the fuse panel, as I still use the relay. Can turn off/on with the switch also and use with highs or lows.

Just FYI, I did the foglight mod but instead of powering off the power outlet fuse (cuz wanted them on only as driving lights when headlights on - have DRL already) ended up tapping off of pin 1 on DRL No 4 relay (just made room for the wire under the relay off to one side and then fed the wire thru the hole in the lug on the Relay and pushed it in - was planning to solder it later but fit's so tight I don't think I can get it back out so has pretty good contact so s/b ok). What this does is take power from the head lamp relay before it gets split in the dimmer relay into highs or lows. [ref 2003 EWD and 2003 relay location PDF files]
