Default Trying to program a keyless remote, where is the RKE ecu?

I am trying to get keyless entry working on my '02 tundra. I bought a used remote from someone on here hoping it would work (only $10 so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't). The dealer confirmed that my truck did come with keyless entry from the factory. I have the 3 page instructions from the garage that the TS user sent me when I bought the key fob from him. My only question is where is the RKE ECU that it refers to?

I also just read something on here where someone said '02 keyless entry used fobs w/only one button, and '03 and newer used fobs with 2 buttons. Is this true? I was sold a remote that is supposed to have come with a '02 but it's got 2 buttons, lock & unlock.

Any help would be really appreciated. Hopefully I can get this working.

i found the piezo (sp?) tweeter so I'm pretty sure that also confirms that I do have the keyless entry ability.

hmm...more internet reading just has me wondering and confused.

for those of you who's trucks came with keyless entry do you have something that looks like this:

*stolen from a 4runner fac on the rs3000 but i'm thinking it would look similar to this, but hopefully not because there's nothing that looks like this in my truck

I finally anti'd up and bought a subscription so I've been doing some more reading in the "garage". I found this article:

url deleted - nhparrot

which says I have to remove the lower dash cover and the heating duct. Before I go and take this all apart can anyone confirm that this is where the keyless entry control module lives on a 2002 Tundra SR5 TRD?

After you remove the lower panels the Security/keyless ECU should be just to the right of the steering column.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????

Mine does not have that. My truck actually did not come from the factory with the keyless entry it was installed by the dealer. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

I have an '02 Tundra SR5 Ext. Cab with keyless entry. It does not have an alarm. Fortunately I love my truck so much that I sleep in it so that usually scares off would be theives....LOL!! My question is: It seems as though I need to be pretty close to the truck to lock/unlock the doors. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to extend the keyfobs range?

Thanks!!
