Lightbulb '05 Mod to enable DRL on Tacoma??

I know that most may scoff at this, but is there a mod to enable DRL on an '05 Tacoma?

I want to look different than most and was looking at enabling my DRL - according to the manual it says in '05 the DRL uses the blinkers, and I like the way that looks.

I figured I would ask before I tore my dash to bits looking for a way to make this work.

Thanks,

Just turn your lights on while you are driving. Then when you get out of the truck leave the lights on. When you turn off the truck and open the driver's door the lights will shut off automatically. Then the next time you go to get into the truck then will turn on automatically when you start the truck.

Nope. I haven't done the true DRL mod yet. Need to take a closer look at the wiring. But in the meantime, the above works just fine.

Been wanting to do this myself. I quess I'll look into a bit more now. Always liked how the corvettes and camaro's looked with their DRL's this way.

... after looking at the wiring diagrams it shows a lot of seperate wires that are labled DRL only, I am hoping they are already there and connected and I am just missing a jumper someplace. But I really don't want to tear out the dash to get to the back of the fuse panel where everything is connected.

thanks,

I've read and heard that to disable DRL in trucks with the option, you just unplug a connection under the hood between the battery and the fender.
Maybe non-DRL trucks have the connection and it's just not plugged together?? I doubt it's this easy. .. . . but it's worth a look!

Dunno if Tacoma's DRL is different from Sienna.

I did spend some more time on this today, and came to one conclusion, the wiring diagrams posted here are incorrect. They list a few parts, cables and connectors that are just not there, they also show the turn signal flasher as a seperate unit and it is actually mounted to my fusebox. I did find a connector with various shorting pins in it relating to the front lights, I think this may be the key. First I will check with the dealer and see if there are different ones for Canada and here... otherwise I will go back to hunting down wires...

... and I *refuse* to just leave my headlights on.

I do know on the 4Runner Site for the 2003+ Runners, all you had to do is install a relay or something and it creates the DRL's... I do not know if this is the case for the Tacoma or not.

I have found that there is a small cable assembly that is needed. It connects to the back of the interior fuse box and replaces some shorting bar connectors. It is not available from my parts dealer at this time...
